RE: Ferret
The sellers is Allan Coors, a collectors of armor, one of the biggest on the East Coast. Some other Steel Soldiers have bought from him too, and done well. ArmyMan30Years+ is one of them, bought a 5-ton tractor from him eariler this year.
Anyways, I agree - $12K for a...
Re: update
Glad to hear you're still kicking, Gilbert! Had a blast at Haspin with you all...
Still interested in going to the beach rally - I have 3 MVs and 2 more coming. So they are ready for the sand and surf.
This would be a really great restoration project, there are plenty of M47-M48 series spares out there that really have little value except to a collector. This track would be great sitting on display at the Aberdeen 2008 rally!
Pretty soon, I'm gonna need to buy my keeper deuce. So far, the 4 I got from Chambersburg are nice, but they are all destined for resale.
I WANT THE KEEPER!!!
:ditto: His name is Austin Weber, and he has PLENTY of HMMWV stuff for you. Prices are pretty good too.
Well, Haven't seen the M1044s in any quantity be released, most of what I have seen are the standard M998s or the shelter carriers. Where'd you find this gem?
I have seen really nice ones bring $300 - $400, maybe up to $500 with the bows and cover. Also, I think the trailer may be a bit too much for your M1009. The M101 3/4-ton trailer is perfect, but the 1.5-ton M105 series will be too much.
Mine sags, but I think it's because some fat a$$ stood on it at some point, and mushed the center down a bit. I think a hi-lift jack and some patience can fix it....
RE: Nest one to come back - 530C fire truck on M45A2 chassis
I don't really consider paint fading to count as deterioration. Nor do I consider high weeds around the truck to be that either. Repainting the truck is normal for sitting outside for a while. Next time, David, please make sure you...
Yup - that was me! 55 mph and 2500 rpm from Gilbert, PA to Philly to DC to Strasburg, VA is NOT EASY in a deuce! But it got done...
Westbound and down, loaded up and truckin'...
Great meeting all of you as well! Always good to put names with faces. Saw nickd, emmado22, jatonka, and met for the first time M35-tom, m38inmaine, yankeedeuce, and dakotafear. Enjoyed the show, and the round trip (550 miles in a deuce) was, er, fun (except my butt is killing me!).
Okay, where is the thermostat in the deuce, just so I know where to check tomorrow if there are any problems?
The level of my coolant is currently about 1 inch down from the radiator cap, but still much higher than where yours is "happy".
I don't know what level it should be at. Except for the small amount of the radiator you can see through the bent filler neck, all I know is fill it up to the top.
Ethan - hope you're right. Don't wanna get stranded in PA tomorrow. :( How hot does your deuce get since it has found it's happy...
