The military has assigned a 20-yr life span for the HEMTT series of trucks. We're only seeing the oldest of the old HEMTTs start coming out of surplus. Most of the worn out ones get sent to Oshkosh to be rebuilt, anyways, and the ones I have seen the slip through the cracks and get auctioned...
Thanks for the thumbs ups, guys.
AM30Y+ - Gilbert PA is next weekend, this is the truck I'm taking up there. Need to change the oil and get it inspected before I go, I plan on doing that Thursday. Gumby is going through a couple fix-it problems at the shop. When it's done, it will be ready...
That truck is really, uh, interesting. Looks like a Ford pickup, and IH 1-ton dump, and a deuce had a wreck and that's what is left. But it is an interesting amalgamation!
RE: M416 recovery with pics.
M416? You mean a Jeep trailer? That's a mighty big, but really nice, truck to haul that trailer back with. Hope the fuel bill there is worth it.
Also took the side boards for the non-winch deuce and sanded them down to almost bare oak, they looked REALLY nice, bet a full resto with the oak boards would be snazzy. BUT, wanted to stay with the green motif, so sanded, primed and painted. Here's the before, during, and after pics.
Sorry...
Well, Gumby is in the shop, getting some much needed brake work done to it. I have neither the time, patience, or knowledge to work on brakes, much less so if they have been sitting for many years. Also, while in the shop my mechanic found a plug in the oil lines, causing the pressure to peg...
My winch truck has two openings, tubes if you will, on the outside edges of the front bumper. I believe these are the mounting posts for bumper end markers, so the driver knows where the edges of his truck are to allow for better turning in tight areas. However, my eyes aren't as good as they...
My temp gauge never leaves the 120 degrees. Running, idling, towing another deuce. The gauge looks new, but I think the wiring is bad, or the temp sending unit it bad.
A dog after my own heart!
Great pics, and good save of a mangled deuce. We never really like it when you hack off the last axle to bob it out, but this is as good a candidate as any for the surgery. Would've been too much work to fix the rear end, easier to cut off and make it shorter.
