Okay, question for ya'll. I'm watching an episode of Ice Road Truckers now, the horn blast at the beginning of the show got me thinking about replacing the deuce horn (that sounds more like a boat horn than a truck horn) with a real semi truck air horn, with a nice HONK HONNNK tone to it...

Anyone know what type of wire is used in military radio cables, such as the ones for the VRC-12 series? I have some scrap cabling from damaged cables of this series, and was removing the rubber shielding from them today with a blade, and it wasn't copper colored, but rather silver or aluminum...

That's a lot of wood. Way to work the deuce! Roger that on the cutting down dead trees. I hate cutting down live trees, I like the shade they provide my house. I grew up in New Jersey, where trees aren't too plentiful in some parts. My daddy wouldn't cut down any live trees for firewood...

I just made an offer on a similar trailer frame, with the axles and springs, etc. but no water tank, and got it for $75. Likewise, mine had no paperwork, and the data plate was faded to the point of worthless for information purposes. I wouldn't pay more than $100 to $150 for a similar one...

Was there ever a 4-color pattern made for the CUCV? I think by the time they were issued to the troops, that the 3-color woodland had been used for a few years. The MERDC pattern was 1974 to about 1982 or so.

Didn't the M123s have this as well on the back end? Or was that a larger winch?

I'd cut the portion out and replace with new sheet. Any fix you do, whether it be fiberglass or lead, will simply be that, a patch, and it won't last forever. Sanding smooth with a disc will thin the metal and you won't be happy with that either.

Wow - now THAT deuce is a candidate for a bright green paint job and some JOHN DEERE letters on the side!

Make your own cables - get some wire stock at Lowe's and cut to the length you need. Use brass end crimps, and you're good to go!

RE: Better you Ha ha. Yup - he taught me to stay on the wider trails. I expect scratches, but that's what rattle cans are for! Trust me, I won't consider putting a rig like a deuce into really tight squeezes like he did. Heck, most ATVers wouldn't go where he did!
