Vehicle was transferred to A Company, 57 Signal Battalion at Fort Hood, TX fairly recently and was probably sent to DRMO from there. This unit failed to properly receive the vehicle into the unit.
Before that unit, I found the following:
US Army Operational Test Command, Location: FT...
If you've had the vehicle for 18 months and have no idea when the fluid was last changed, change it immediately. Drop the pan and throw it away. Get one of the newer pans for the HMMWV that has the drain plug in to simplify life in the future. It's a start.
Hey Jake,
How's my...your truck!?
Showed them to one of the guys from the former unit and he was absolutely estatic. He had actually drove one of them to DRMO and towed another behind it. Of course he and some other guys took six there in one day. He had some good tales about that trip.

Ace,
Here is the NSN you're looking for 6220-01-248-6269 14072333 LIGHT B.O. DRIVE CUCV. It is available at the following website: http://www.flmv.net/FLMV-NSN-LISTING.htm
Will also make some calls tomorrow to see what I can find.
tsmall07,
They were efficient with yours and processed it out of the loosing unit. It was listed as the Alabama Army National Guard, US Property and Fiscal Office. They are the ones that run the property records for each state's national guard units. According to the bumper, the unit would...
I can find absolutely nothing on the serial number for the first vehicle.
Vehicle 2 is in the system but with very limited data. here's what I got:
Nomenclature:TRUCK CARGO 1-1/4T Model:M1008A1 NSN:2320011232671
Serial Number:J1FF359323 Registration Number:NG1F6Z Year of Mfg:1984...

Check your dataplate carefully. If everything else below matches for the NSN and serial number, your registration number is 5G not 5C.
Here's what I came up with:
Organization: 454TH TRANSPORTATION COMPANY USAR
Location: COLUMBUS, OHIO
Nomenclature:TRUCK TRACTOR 5-TON Model:M818 W/W...
We'll work this from the top.
"It is a DA form 2408-9 dated 1 OCT 1972"
The 2408-9 is a form that for lack of calling it anything else, is a title and registration for military vehicles. A change in the 2408-9 is suppose to be completed when a vehicle changes hands but as I often see...
gillean,
Here ya go, fyi the 165th shut down almost 2 years ago.

Johnfire,
PM me with your first vehicle sometime tonight I have to do some more research on that one and I don't want to loose track of it. As some of the folks are hearing around here, I have a gotten a bad case of C.R.S. since the heart attack a few months ago. So bottom line is pm me...
ASTFU,
Guess it did go across the big pond. The unit 9 may also be the 9th Theater Support (now Sustainment) Command. I think they use to be located in Ft Belvoir VA. The truck may have been stationed in Japan long term or it could have been shipped there just for an exercise or both. I...
OK, something different here folks, it says this truck was stationed in HONSHU, JAPAN but I with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 17th Legal Affairs Battalion (Augmentation). However, I do not think the vehicle actually went to Japan. My belief is the fact there was an (Augmentation)...
Actually I can think of 41,822 reasons why a person would change the numbers. Loose a truck at the port or someone else has a better one than yours, a dozen screws and you're done. Happens more often than you think.
I saw the a large lot of CUCV's being sold for scrap out of M'burg.
http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=1470256&categoryId=1004
The sale ad says vehicles have to be mutilated and no SF 97 will be issued.
Question 1: Can anyone tell me how much mutilation is required? Will the...
Think we might have talked about this one (C.R.S.). Here is what I found
X40146 2320 008358464 M35 W/W 30341 4D4373 1954
X40009 2320 000771616 M35A2 32530341 4D68670 1970
Any chance it is either of these. The one was built in 54.
I was wondering the same thing. I was tracking the two M1009's at Aberdeen and was very, very tempted to jump on both of them. About the only thing that held me back was wondering what the floors looked like in the vehicles. I saw the vehicles had their fluids drained and batteries removed...
