I'm kinda perplexed why you think the truck was used by the air force? The serial number and registration number match up to the vehicle decribed above. Emmado22 is 100% correct that the Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DODAAC) for the DODAAC you provided W908CL is for the 316 AG...
Got some further info for you.
Before it went to the 316th AG your truck belonged to the 449th MAINTENANCE CO. I'm fairly sure this unit use to be located on Fort Tilden, NY (southeastern NYC somewhat near JFK Airport). Appears the unit deployed/was deployed prior to Sep 2004 but the truck...
Guess that was my cue to jump in...

If they are the same type of heaters I had in Germany in the 80/90's, we used 60% df2 and 40% mogas. Within the past few years they began issuing new guts for these that are for burning just DF2/JP8. I also recall them smoking alot with straight df2 but that subsided after they got broken in...
Oh and reference question 1. Yes, the workshops did it all the time. Couple of good examples:
Pzkpfw I Ausf B mit 20mm Flak 38
T34 hull with 20mm Flakvierling 38
Panther hull with Pz IV Ausf H turret
SdKfz 301 with 6 barrel Panzerschreck launcher on swing mount
Pzkpfw I with 37mm PaK36
All...
I have studied German armor and other weapons for over 20 years. I am not saying they didn't but I have never found photographic evidence nor read any official reports stating the 120 was mounted in a 251. I know a lot of early works on German armor had a lot of mistakes and or transposed...
Saw these on the west side of RT15 just south of Harrisburg, PA. My spousal unit throught I lost it when I slammed on the brakes.
The 'Tiger' is actually what appears to be a T34 mock up of a Tiger. It maybe one of the tanks used on Saving Private Ryan.
The SdKfz-251 /1 Ausf D is...

THE STORY CONTINUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These trucks use to belong to me. I was the commander of this unit. I can't believe it.
Last I saw them they were suppose to go to foreign military sales. Guess that fell through.
Unit inactivate years ago and these trucks sat at Letterkenny for well...
I'm assuming you mean id'ing the unit it belonged to.
Would need the national stock number, serial number or registration number (preferably both) and type of vehicle (ie M35A2C w/w).
The older the vehicle, the less likely the information is available.
Your truck was used by the 1173 Transportation Company (Light Truck) VA Army National Guard located in Manassass, VA. Sometime around 1996/7 it was removed from the unit with 47160 miles on it. It may have been sent to DRMO at that time.
Hope that helps
If you have the money there are 2 on armyjeeps.net.

If you don't have the money, you can always go with the poor mans HMMWV
http://www.armyjeeps.net/PMH/poor_mans_humvee.htm
Or you can buy a CUCV.
Guess I'm feeling a little over protective.
My folks always let me ride in the back of the pickup, standing up, falling out, cracking my head. Maybe that is why I'm so dain bramaged.
Thanks all of the insight.
I got some time to look at the various options. The infant car seat will go in the rear seat middle. I still have two other kids under 60 lbs so I got two kid seats to put in there on each side. Guess I will have to use the straps integral to the kid seats...
