Wes, I'm just curious as a newbie, isn't it not always necessarily a "bad" thing having poor pickup? I'd think it could alleviate sucking sediment/junk into your filters, it would naturally settle to the bottom of the tank and stay there. Of course I'm sure a rough drive on a dirt road could...
He's helped me as well, great guy. Walked me through the process of buying an M939 at auction and even looked at the listing for the one I was bidding on and was able to suggest what to be prepared to fix. Definitely helped me quite a bit!
Congrats on the new acquisition, fine looking truck! Yeah, the odometer reading is often really nothing, they got swapped all the time, especially if a new engine was put in, I've talked to ex motor pool guys who remember seeing M939s on their FIFTH engine, no joke!
I might be picking up one...
Very nice! I might borrow your idea for relocating the batteries in the M923 I might be getting, but at the same time I'm torn since they're high and dry in the cab, and I intend on going mudding somewhat.
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! Congragulations on the truck, I, too, am hopefully getting one at the end of this year, an '84 M923A0, special to me because it's from the NG unit in the country I grew up in. Looks like you got yourself a good one!
Food looks yummy! Done dragging stuff around for awhile? On a side note, thanks for looking over the listing for that M927A2 I bid on, before I bid. I didn't win but the thought was very much appreciated!
I've always wondered that too, why the cab with the hydrogen gases, especially if someone lights up a cigarette while driving or riding shotgun. But then again, maybe to be as high and dry as possible, since these trucks were meant to ford deep water/plow through the mud if need be?
I'm also planning on doing the same with my M923 I might be picking up, also a CA>AK recovery trip...just sleep in the bed for a week. Can't wait to see the border people freak out too!
