    CUCV Transmission Questions

First things first... If the modulator failed, transmission fluid would be sucked into the engine to be burned. That would smoke but you would have white smoke coming from the tailpipe. Very doubtful that it would leave liquid ATF to spray the back of your rig. If a cooler line came apart and...

    M1010 Adventures

I like the factory black steelies because it looks original. Your rig with the H2's still looks like a honey badger truck. For those of you that don't know the honey badger...it is pretty bad a$$. Run it!!!

    How much should I pay

I would pay that money for one that was untouched, recent IP done, and is pretty much turnkey. For some reason, people think molested, unmaintained, and modified CUCV's should go for that kind of money.

New M1009 Owner Needs help with Manual Push Button for GP, Electric Fuel Pump, Filter

Search for my threads if you want a Stanadyne FM100 filter setup. If you want a Napa base, someone has a thread on that as well. You are looking for the blue wire going into the GP controller. Wire this to ground through a momentary contact switch. This will override the controller for glow...

    2nd fuel tank installation 1985 M1028

Do you have a web link for that item? That would be pretty trick because the valve only fits in so many spots.

    2nd fuel tank installation 1985 M1028

If you want a manual valve, you need one of these: Groco FV65038 Fuel Valve 6 Port I will doing this instead of the electric valve on my M1031 when I add the additional saddle tank.

New M1009 Owner Needs help with Manual Push Button for GP, Electric Fuel Pump, Filter

Not sure why people feel the urge to slap an electric pump on or a manual GP button. Unless you are modding something, there is no need for it. It works great in stock form. I will be adding a manual GP button in addition to my GP controller in case it fails. Congrats on your purchase!

    How to price Cucv parts?

If it's a young guy, you should cut him a deal. Kids that want to learn how to wrench and be interested in this type of hobby are few and far between. Tell him you will give him the frame in exchange for his XBOX or Playstation. When he gets the truck done, he can get his gaming console back:D

    But clenching ride home

Grab a whole spare hub from a junkyard. Slide it on, adjust the wheel bearings, and drive it home. Once you get it back, then fix the problem right with some new parts. You could probably find a whole new hub assembly for free, 10 bolts are everywhere. Good to hear no one was hurt!

    Alternator Rebuild Problem

Yup, they are non-tapping. The threads go right to the end of the fastener. I tapped the first rectifier which helped. The second I tried running the bolts in without tapping and they worked just fine. Made me nervous though:D

    Alternator Rebuild Problem

I had this discussion with CUCV Electric. I will say first that he is an absolutely outstanding person to deal with. He has gone above and beyond helping me with a problem and his parts always come on time. The new rectifier is unthreaded. The old bolts will go right into the new unthreaded...

    My New 1028/1031

You could fit the 37's stock but that would require a ton of sheetmetal cutting and proper offset wheels. A zero rate block from ORD would help by pushing the axle forward an inch. I think you need about 1 to 1.5 HP per kilowatt. I think the 18hp would work (assuming you are near what my...

    My New 1028/1031

Cool rig! Is that generator diesel powered off the trucks tank? Look up my M1031 build thread, I did a pretty standard 4" lift with 37's (no HWMMV rims though).

Gen lights flashing randomly, 1 or 2, never both

My idle is slightly lower when I replaced my IP. my Gen2 is very dim if idling in gear but goes off as soon as I take it out of gear or touch the throttle. I'm assuming this is just due to low engine rpms as it did that before the rebuild as well. This problem occurs while driving down the...

Gen lights flashing randomly, 1 or 2, never both

Background on the system: I have replaced both batteries a few months ago. I rebuilt both alternators with complete CUCV electric kits about two months ago along with new underdash relays. Brand new belts which are tight, all terminals cleaned up, the whole system is functioning great. I...

    m1010

Sounds like usual stuff. I had a bunch of bad bulbs which did some really funky stuff. Do yourself a favor and park it. Take some time and just go from one end to the other. Clean all electrical parts, replace bulbs with all brand new stuff. New batteries, rebuild alternators, etc. You will be...

    Good score I Think

You need a governor and a cheapo chinese setup off fleebay will run about $300-$500. A better quality setup will run $500-$800 and could go into $1000 if you want a digital controller with a frequency input instead of a speed sensor in the pto unit.

    Alternator/idle

Look at the fast idle plunger next to the IP. if it's extended causing the high idle, this is normal to happen for a bit if the engine is somewhat warm. Cold engine obviously goes longer. My idle speed change is pretty obvious when the plunger shuts off. If this isn't the cause, it may need...
