Hats off to both Gimpy and JW for helping me get the gantry crane together.
No Kenny it isn't air conditioned but after this week I wish it was.
Afterwards Jerry let me drive the truck around the country block. Nice.....
He found a bolt on the pass side right in front of the body isolation...
Yep, I'll be here all day. Gimpy is next door for a while. We put chains up on one of the driveways so you have to pull in the east side. Or drive through the yard.
:-)
I do it the same way another member showed me and his trucks looked pretty good. Simple and easy and still looks better than a motor pool job.
Pressure wash anything loose and clean the entire truck.
Mask what you want.
Prime it with Rustoleum.
Rattle can it with Rapco. (Single color takes 20...
Did you MIG weld the elbow onto the straight piece of tubing?
Although it is only one part of a fording kit I like the fact that the air inlet is right side up instead of sideways. While it might be small there is less chance of filling your air cleaner up with crud since it has to go up...

My Brother and I watched two trucks loaded with a 900 series tractor and an M105 each and sent on their way. They were even leaving the 900 trucks running for...
One of my trucks will start up immediately whether it sits for ten minutes or ten months the other I have to push the pedal down and crank for as much as 15 seconds.
Gimp and I went on a two hour tour to pick up his "new" hydraulic crane for the bed of his Deuce and when we got back we stopped up the street and I bought two stationary gantry cranes.
When we got to the house it took us over an hour to get the truck backed into its spot in the barn where I am...
No problem Dennis. Gimp and I are dreaming up something. I have two trucks and he suggested getting the brakes fixed on number two so I can get a truck back on the road and then pull the engine.
Can you work on one sitting in a can or would a custom built stand be better?
Yes, you will Kenny. I have always wanted to rebuild and engine completely but I would not rob your parts to do it. Set off flares or smoke to amuse people yes, use your parts, no.
:-)
