Thing is, the ones on the secondary market all went through GP at some point and these costs were incorporated into the value. The secondary market is at minimum 20% higher than GP, and frequently more like double.
A bare bones no frills basic hmmwv in functioning condition has a market value...
Rolling chassis with a driveline in place and intact is going to exceed the $7k. The thing is, you're not likely to find just the parts present you want, and in good shape. The ones in better shape tend to also be the ones that are more complete.
If cheap is the goal, GP is the answer if...
This is my experience as well. I've blown a right front G177, and I've blown a right front 14.00. Both of these were at highway speeds, and neither really caused much excitement. (Neither gave any warning either).
Harder to control was the intermediate axle driver side blowout.
This is all state specific.
Bonded title in AZ for example is 1.5x the value of the vehicle. So instead of $15 per $1000 , it's $1500 per $1000.
Just one example of many differences.
In any case, it isn't fraud unless false statements are made. It may or may not be legal, but it isn't...
Yes, @sue built one for his. It is unobtrusive, well thought out and well executed. I was very impressed with it and would like to have one like it in my hmmwv.
I picked an existing hole on the driver side under the tail light and used that. One was good enough.
It doesn't have a light, but that's not an issue during daylight and 99% of the time otherwise.

The tires are michelin XZL 395's and are a good choice for your dump truck. You should be able to find some on 10 bolt lmtv rims which will bolt right up to your...
Angle grinder with a wire brush for the easy to reach places. Sandblaster and needle scaler for the harder to reach places.
Pressure wash and green scratch pad to prep.
Behr housepaint the color of choice. (This is better than it sounds)
Edit to add pic . Current picture of a truck we painted...
There has to be someone around there with a 5ton and a towbar.
If I was close enough I'd do it for lunch and some fuel.
Too many unknowns to try to drive it.
I strongly caution against trying to tow it with a pickup truck. Just too much potential for badness, and no real upper limit on...
House paint is actually a good choice for these vehicles, especially in your climate.
The wheel cylinders aren't expensive, and the brakes on these things aren't hard to work on, but they're critical if they fail.
@CastleBravo is in your area and maybe could go with you to get a look...
My 2 man soft top variant weighs within a couple hundred pounds of my GF's jeep wrangler JKU, and 4000lbs less than my 1ton pickup truck.
My hmmwv weighs less than a Ford F150, and about 25% more than the current Dodge Challenger.
In the scheme of things, this really doesn't justify...
