New GP relay help - s603

The controller switches the light blue wire(ground), to activate the relay. (not the positive side) Both small terminals are connected by a long winding of wire(a coil). So, with the key is on, then you would see voltage on both small terminals(if the controller is not activating). If the...

    Trany questions

And here's a generic pic of a syncro. The syncro has a cone or tapered shape inside that engages and helps match the speed of the gear set that it is attached to. This helps with a smooth shift transition. Reving up or matching engine speed, sort of does the same thing.

    Trany questions

I would bet the sycro is bad. Here's a pic of a shift key.

    Draining Rear Battery

Unfortunately, the alts do seem to go bad after the trucks have sat for a long time then put back into use. I'd get a couple of rebuild kits and replace the small internals. Then you should be good for years.

    DogHead Relay Mod Backfire?

You are putting the 2 small wires on the 2 small terminals, and the 2 large wires on the 2 large terminal, correct? The small purple(with white tracer) wire should have 12v with the key in the start position.

    DogHead Relay Mod Backfire?

Use a volt meter and see if you have power on the big purple wire, when you try to start. You may have a bad relay. A few others have reported bad(new) relays. You could have a bad connection also. Did you disconnect your battery cables when you did the mod? Did you clean and reinstall...

    ignition coil blew up today...

Yes, it can. I recall this being an issue back when people "converted" 6 volt VW bugs to 12v and did not change the coil. It would work just fine, unless you left the key on and the points were closed. Then, after a few minutes, BANG, the coil explodes. I did it at least once myself. You...
