This TB 43-0142 (LIFTING DEVICES TESTING) is a MUST READ for ALL of the WRECKER and CRANE OWNERS, for keeping somebody from getting hurt, to keep you from being liable because a cable or strap is under par, and in general needed reading, a lot of GREAT INFO. Remember, if something happens, it...

You need to switch back and forth, from think backwards from normal semi backing, to normal backing, it took me for ever to learn, then no ware as good as a transfer driver

    holmes 600 on a m35a2

There was both a 5t and a 2 1/2t photo type Holmes set up built, but never produced, the A/W style won out, , the 5t used a WW2 Holmes body, the deuce used one smiler, only smaller, both were twin swing booms 5t--------------XM62E4-twin boom Holmes ( same bed as used on the 4t WW2 Diamond T) the...

    Different 5 ton transfer cases?

Ok,I see your point, where you CAN'T shift out of 4x4, In that case I am talking about PART time, I guess my terminology could be confusing, I'm thinking when you shift the air shift tc into front drive it becomes full time front drive until shifted out manually, as compared to a sprag set up...

    Different 5 ton transfer cases?

FULL time, yes like a deuce air shift, the front and rear is locked together, though running on hard road in 6x6 would be HARD on the drive . I believe that The full time 4x4 in jeeps and other full time 4x4s tc has a differential or some other mechanisms that smoothes out the torque to both...

power limitations of a 250 Cummins?

Actually, doing a hydro steer conversion would dramatically reduce the danger if that were to happen. This guy did a lot of really good mods to his Deuce and while the hydro kit he used is spendy (for me), it worked out really well. Here's the link...

    Different 5 ton transfer cases?

ONLY engaging when the rear slips. You can install a 900 tc, this is air shift with full time front drive when engaged, Also you can install a tc from a 6x6 civi mixer, these are air shift for H/L and front drive.

What holds the ends into the dogbones

you don't press on the rubber, there is a metal band the the rubber is formed in, you press on the metal band, also the 5t inserts in the torque arms ONLY go in/out from one side, not both on each end. I beleive the -34 tm covers this, if not the -20 does I would use 5t axle torque arm mounts...

power limitations of a 250 Cummins?

the factory OE 855 with turbo and fuel set for it is a 290. the only thing wrong with the 5Ts (54,809 series) is the @##%^^%$#%^&* trans, there are many 5t change trans threads

? Bleeding brakes, AW32, Hydraulic oil

I REALLY hate to say this, but READING the TMs WOULD have saved ALL this MESS, HASSEL, and EXPENSE. YES, 10wt, hyd. can be used in the brake system, BUT only in a FIELD EMERGENCY when the proper fluid is not available to get the truck going, but NOT as a EVERYDAY use. I have a older (cold...

    Frustrating 809-series sprag!

yes, the deuce air switch, is the thing to use for this mwo field mod

    The 666 is finally home

I disagree, I think it will be more then a problem then it is worth, may not be to bad for a EVERY DAY operated vehicle, for a only once in a while use, I see problems
  18. 73m819

    The 666 is finally home

Air starters work OK if you have a good starting motor, a air starter will spin it over faster than a elect starter, repeated start attempts drops the pressure QUICK, you need a BIG separate air tank, air filter/heated water trap, a oiler , ONE way check valves, then remember, one little air...
