I can't remember right now but, if you look at the rest of the power wires from the spider harness behind the gauge panel, they should all be going to the same side/connector of each gauge (ribbed or not ribbed), then you will know which side gets power and which side gets the sender unit.
There are nice butt connectors that have heat shrinking ends.
You could twist, solder and seal with heat shrink tubing.
Plain old butt connectors work just fine if for several years in decent environments.
A good crimping tool is helpful.
