That's not a good adventure, and I'm sorry it happened to you, zebedee.
But glad of the good news that nobody got hurt.
And you sure got a story for telling now (not much consolation I know, but it pays to make the most of the cards you get dealt, you know!?).
I was only half-kidding about the earthquake reference, I mean I don't know as much as I should about your neck of the woods:
- Isn't the New Madrid fault somewhere in (or near) OK!?
God bless the luxury of making an easy change now, versus the nightmare of trying to do it later when everything is fixed in place (which just might rank as one of Murphy's absolute favorites, you know?).
The things that never get included in Owner's Manuals, and you just wished that they would.
You know, like "never pee after slicing hot peppers without washing your hands first".
Agreed that the step by DJones is a nice fabrication. Wouldn't mind seeing some more detail about how it works.
And your hitch work isn't too shabby either. Nice looking installs. [thumbzup]
Are you in the same general area of Texas as ColdWarrior?
I'm hoping the rain is good for you all, though that sounds like a little too much all at one time. Hope it's all good, though.
Can't remember if the backstory on this plate was already addressed:
- With my luck I probably already asked the question back at like post #275 or something.
- It's a very cool detail.
- What's this all about?
That's a nice clean installation, QUADJEEPER; good looking work.
Is that one of the self-bleeding valves (circled), that you can activate from the dash?
The impression from other stories is that any runaway transitions almost immediately to self-destruct RPM's, but your story is the first I heard that suggests there is some time to catch it all before it gets critical. That's good to know.
That's a great and special way to live:
- You have job skills that can travel, and
- No particular reason to stay anchored to any one place. and then
- There's this big wide Republic that honors your citizenship anywhere on the continent from "sea-to-shining sea" (CONUS).
That's pretty...
