Thanks for the info! Haven't really done much research regarding the trucks history. It is always nice to know these things though. Have you heard of these trucks having a multi-fuel diesel engine in them. This one says it was a gas engine on the dash plaques and is a M44.

Just picked up a 1954 Reo M44 503B Firefighter last Friday. The truck is in very good condition but is missing a few things that I hope to be able to replace at some time.
The truck has a multi-fuel diesel engine that I didn't expect. Thought these came with gasoline...

Update:
Turns out the problem was with the shift tower. Things were out of sync and had to be realigned.
After some disassembly and a lot of patience all is as it should be once again.
I am guessing the cause of the problem was getting in too much of a hurry and shifting incorrectly / too...
Good info. I think mine is stuck between 1st & 3rd gear.
Here are a few pics.
Placed the T-Case in neutral with the engine off and tried to move the shift lever but was unsuccessful.
Removed the top of the trans and all looked normal.... I think?
Am questioning the position of the guide pins...
