This 'basket case' M1030B1 parts project was delivered without a 'basket'. But the most important things were there, blackout lights and switch. Went thru everything - AOK, everything else was Ebay KLR650 used replacement parts.
Runs great and has less than 1000 miles. Great summer project...
My 1985 HMMWV is a garage queen with about 3000 miles. It always starts and runs perfectly for the dozen or so local events. Saturday I was running late to an event a few miles away and stomped on it from all the lights, I noticed there was a lot of rpm's but no acceleration or increasing speed...
After searching out all the snorkel threads and posts I decided this was the quick, cheap and easy way out. $80 on Ebay and made for a Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser it's an exact Chinese copy of an ARB Safari at 5X the price(minus the logo). Throw the paper template on, drill the mount holes and...
Just another no-lift CUCV with HMMWV tires thread. :-D
Should be fine around town from the looks of the rubber travel stops on the suspension. I used the aluminum 2 piece adapters and wheel/tire assemblies from Rodney up in Wisconsin. Without trimming I could only drive in straight lines. But...
I replaced the original 'well worn' rear seat with these lightweight aluminum APC folding seats off Ebay. I mounted them on a couple of aluminum extrusions and used the original locking bar. And yes that's a 383 green color matched Line-X interior.
I'm fine tuning the M1009 and have a problem with the blackout lights not switching off. They turn on with the 'right switch' in the blackout light down position but the left switch won't switch them off. I got the wiring diagram out, seems like a latching relay not 'unlatching'? Anybody with a...
Well it looks like the floodgates have opened and every local municipal department is getting HMMWV's.
LEO's, FD's, water+sewer departments, what a deal!.
Here on the SS HMMWV forum we civilians had to beg borrow and steal to get ($)HMMWV's and the repair parts. Even as recent... civ's NOT...
For the purists who want that 383CARC 'look' in their M1009 interior. The Line-X guy did a great job of color matching with their upgraded KEVLAR formula. I did all the prep work myself and drove 20 miles to the Line-X dealer with only a seat and a speedo. 8-) Because dealer disassembly was $...
Prior to a Doghead mod.:???: Can a locked on starter relay cause electrical problems in Gen 1?
After a fast and furious battery cable pull 'save'... Gen 1 started running burning hot.
The Gen light was on for about an hour but went off.
No wires or starters were lost in the excitement.
What's the failure rate of 27 year old horns? Do they usually go dead short or am I just lucky?
and I thought someone just forgot to plug the connector on the horn...
Not my choice, but I'm trying to work with it.
I'm trying to sort out a 12volt conversion. There is an OEM air conditioner on the driver side instead of an alt. So I'm working with the passenger side alt only.
I got a non-isolated ground alt for the pasenger side and just wondered what the...
I forgot to post this last summer.
How could I possibly refuse? 8)
My HMMWV was requested for the most important of duties as 'the' wedding limousine. Proudly sporting the TOW Missile Launcher, M2HB 50BMG and SAW249 Beltfed, with some festive 'Just Married' wedding decorations.
I thought...
Our NICMVPA group came to the cold and drizzly Naperville St Pat's Day Parade. Over 100+ other parade entrant groups and over a mile long! Always an overly appreciative crowd. The rain kept the anti-military harassment clique away this time, didn't miss 'em. We had the M1026 with 150,000 miles...
The Northern Illinois Chapter MVPA provided MV's for the CMOH opening ceremony in Chicago at Soldiers Field. This is the kickoff for the CMOH convention activities. The Congressional Medal of Honor Society 2009 Chicago Commit to Courage Convention
It was a real 'privilege' for the club to...
When my shop neighbor came over needing to get his 30 foot thick crust pizza slice to fly(+120 feet), I couldn't resist the challenge. The Chicago Red Bull Flugtag is coming up fast Sept6, and for those who don't follow this insanity. That's where otherwise sane people(Hyped up on Red Bull) jump...
During the summer each weekend Downers Grove, IL features a different type of classic car. Well it was our turn Friday night, NICMVPA guys were there.
We shared the fareway with other Trucks, Military, Fire Vehicles, Farm Tractors, and of course the famous(?) Roy and The Orbitz live band...
Well guys, I've seemed to have by-passed all the local and state police problems we normally have, and have gone straight to the Army this time.
Anyone else have this happen?

Well it was really close, but we made it! I painted the waterborne CARC and finished spraying it at 3:00pm July 3, reassembled the HMMWV at 6:00pm. The CARC was hard/dry the next morning July 4th 0700 for the trip to the parade! The drivers seat wasn't even bolted in, no doors(no time to paint...
