    Cucv in Iraq

CSM DAVIS, I was just a lowley CPL waiting on points when I was getting out but I love sitting down with the higher ranking NCO's and swapping old war stories. Awesome story on your truck and the fact that you ran into a Warrant that was there with it, remembered that it first off took shrapnel...

    Cucv in Iraq

About forgot here is our Motorpool and the stables from the air. Just lay in the dust and change out M900 series trannies and engines and the old HMMWV transfer cases. We went through alot of those. And this is where we ended up. Each troop had his/her own stable and after roughing out sand...

    Cucv in Iraq

First two are for Stonepicker. I dunno if you got to go through the first picture which was the main palace or not. I walked it and went in every room, took me almost 3 hours. That place was MASSIVE! The main road into Tikrit, Sadam had it all planned out leading his army's and of course scud...

    Cucv in Iraq

Stonepicker1 we were stuck at the Southern Tikrit Airfield, not the palace. So we stayed in Sadams horse stables. Which were still pretty fancey, marbled trough's and the works. We did drive to the main palace once a week and give our report on how maintence was doing, but we never got to stay...

    Cucv in Iraq

Back in 03 during the invasion I got stuck on a MST with the 3RD ID and 130th ENG BDE. I had a mint condition M1031 but keeping up with those guys pretty much ended her. She took a few small arms hits and some shrapnel on the way to our stopping point, the Southern Tikrit Airfield, Taskforce...

What is the correct operating temp?

Allenhillview's install is ALOT cleaner than mine, lol. But then again so is his truck it looks like. We kinda though about running the gauges like he did but I wanted to be able to keep my head straight while driving down the road checking the vitals. Still looks alot better and cleaner than...

    TH400 Temperature

I have my temp sender in the pressure port on the drivers side of the transmission. Is that a good indication of how hot the fluid is before it goes to my aftermarket cooler? I just went ahead and bypassed the factory radiator one. I have an Autometer Trans temp gauge that goes to 250 I think...

Post Your CUCV Snow Pics Here!

Busting some drifts on the way to pull somebody out here in N.E. Kansas.

    what snow?

We got about 12 inches in N.E. Kansas. With a 12k hyd Milemarker up front and a PTO driven 10k Garwood outback I get alotof "Hey I'm stuck calls". Which I dont mind, keeps the beer fridge stocked. During the day it hit I had to go to Topeka for a VA appt, an hour drive for me and about an hour...

What is the correct operating temp?

Thanks donalloy1, its just a standard set of Autometer gauges with the three gauge holder. We chose that location because there really isnt a good place in a CUCV to mount gauges. We got some plastic wire looms and combined all the wires to make it look clean from the outside. And ran them...

    Tank heater leaking whoes!

Thanks ducer, but so far the 7lb cap and not filling it clear to the top has stopped all leaking. I appreciate your input though and if it comes back again I will def try your remedy.

What is the correct operating temp?

I have an Autometer gauge and a 190 degree thermostat. I can watch the temp come up and its like the thermostat opens at 180 then drops to 170 and goes back up to 180 then back down to 170. Not sure if I have air in the system or what but this summer 100 degree temps outside pulling around...

Twin Sticked NP205 Front Axle Pops out of Gear

With that cap screwed in how could the spring and detent ball move out of place? I mean I'm sure anything is possible but it looks like it would be pretty hard for that to happen? Maybe a weak spring allowed the detent ball to move? I dunno I'm reaching now.

Twin Sticked NP205 Front Axle Pops out of Gear

I cant get a good look at an exploded view of the NP205. Is it a threaded cap that holds the spring and detent ball in or does it just press in? Been awhile since I did it and forgot how it went together. Probably a dumb question.

Twin Sticked NP205 Front Axle Pops out of Gear

Thanks for the response deathrowdave! I'm hoping its as easy as that. The spring and ball cant get past the shift rail can they? I have a hard time remembering. If so I'm gonna have a heck of a time trying to fish them out of the transfer case!

Twin Sticked NP205 Front Axle Pops out of Gear

Twin Sticked NP205 Front Axle Pops out of GearLike the title says, I twin sticked my NP205, scared of grinding the rails too much and allowing it to shift into Front High and Rear Low or vise versa I bought a set of rails from JKW Offroad. Quailty of the grinds looked good and while I was...

Twin Sticked NP205 Front Axle Pops out of Gear

Thanks for the help Cucvnut, English isnt my strong suit thanks for pointing it out. Its kinda a pain for me to type since I have crippling arthritis which I picked up from a rare type of lung cancer which is related to the burn pits while I was in Iraqi Freedom 1. This weather compounds my...
