I have been running my 6.2 diesels for about 5 years now and have never had a broken crank or bottom end failure. Both of my trucks now have banks turbo kits with:
ARP head studs with 6.5 turbo head gaskets
ARP main studs with custom full length girdles made with 3/8" angle iron.
I know that...
Hey guys, thought I would post this up and show you my idea for a cheap alternative to the 6.5 dual thermostat setup. Now from the beginning, I already had a crossover from a newer 6.2 diesel truck that has a port for the temp switch or sensor, but these can be source online or even adapt the...
Hey guys, I have been searching for a long time for timing specs on pulse and timing light for our 6.2's. I have the Blue point mt257b diesel pulse adapter and a innova timing light, so far with that hooked up I get a 8 degree BTDC reading with light at 1400RPMS. I this correct? I know that...
Hey guy I got my Banks turbo installed over the weekend. I didn't take many pictures as I was really trying to get this installed and running for hunting this weekend. Anyways what a difference, it is very nice to have some power. Going up hill is not a chore anymore.
Specs:
J Code 6.2...
Does anybody wear ear plugs while driving on the freeway or at any high speeds? These things are loud and my phone dB app reads 90dB and over. Possible hearing damage can occur after 90dB.
I found this picture on Craiglist, not sure if its been posted here before but I thought it was funny
I guess the reason would be GM had a cheaper price? OR GM had a diesel in a pickup truck before Ford did?
I'm sure some of you are aware of the rusting rear ubolt problem our 1 ton chevys. I just changed mine out and the old ones were bad, nearly like the ones in the link below. I just wanted to remind or make aware that our trucks are 30 years old and this part may need your attention...
I have purchased a Injector pump recently that I intent to install on my 6.2 with a bank turbo kit. It is the DB2829-4523 23500415 1986-89 HMMWV (Military) - 1.2 cSt C/K.
My question is because this is a (artic Pump) rated for thin fuels, will the pumps timing be different if using regular...
I just got done with the 12v conversion. Very easy, hardest part was the starter. I left every thing in place incase i want to go back to 24v. I am gonna miss the fast spinning 24v starter. But its not needed in the climate here in wa.
Is it possible that the IP fuel screw is turned up too high? I installed a rebuilt IP a few years ago from Badger diesel online. I notice it has a little white smoke idling even when warmed up and even the slightest uphill will produce black smoke (not terrible, unless I am towing or have a...
Do the CUCV not come with the support rods that go from the engine mount to the torque converter cover? Mine do not have them and there is no provisions for them on the engine mounts?
Thought I would just throw this out there for someone looking for a 700r4 shift cable bracket. Its not mine, but I found this on ebay and I know some people are looking for one.
*** removed ebay link ***
**** A warning to the original poster (and everyone else), posting of active ebay or...
I notice that the timing cover and oil pan have been sealed with a cream/wht colored RTV silicon instead of a gasket or black RTV, is this the color stuff the army used for repairs?
Thought I would share some pictures of the progress on my M1008. I straighten out the front guard, hammered out the dents on the side of the bed, did some paint work, and added a different set of wheels and tires. Let me know what you guys think of the wheels.
Why do we pay attention to the miles on our CUCV's when:
1. The odometer could have rolled over
2. They are 30 years old already
3. The engine most likely spent more time idling then being on the move
4. Most likely had the crap beat out of it, as I have heard from former army operators...
Hey guys, how should I store a rebuilt injector pump for long term?
I have 2x backup injector pumps for my trucks sitting in my shop, whats the best way to store these? Plastic wrap? Vacuum seal?
I just wanted to post this for people looking for replacement parts for there cucv's. I see alot of people trying to order parts for a M1008/09 at the local auto store and the clerk just can't seem to find the vehicle.
All the suspension parts for the M1009 are the same as a civi k5 blazer...
