    Why the fuss?

For the M1009, the drivetrain might not be anything super-special, but it's hard to find a similar-year K5 that isn't either: 1. Lifted 8" with worn-out 38" boggers 2. More rust than metal 3. Both of the above At least that seems to be the way it is around here. It's not a deuce, but then it...

    100 day club...

I'm a 100-day club member! After reading the advice on here, I contacted GL and DLA at about 70 days. No help from GL ("Your request is at BC and you'll be notified when it clears") DLA, on the other hand, took my info and called me back 2 working days later. At least they were able to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Went to work and daydreamed about the day my EUC clears (my first one).... Submitted 8SEP! This holiday season, I'm thanking GL for helping teach me the virtue of patience. :-|

    60 days tomorrow

Waiting since 9/7 - just passed the 60 day mark, so I sent an email to GL today and I'm planning to email BC tonight or tomorrow. I'm not too concerned about the wait, I just don't want GL to cancel the sale and force me to start the 65-day clock over again.

    POLL: Are YOU a VOTER ? ? ?

I vote... when there is a national election. Since I came on active duty, I have never lived in any one place for more than 18 months. So I'm a registered voter, but I think that my vote for state/local offices would be a vote with consequences (from governor to school board) that I don't have...

    Unidentified (derelict) tank - Afghanistan

Thanks BratPack... Looks like that one will live out its days as a planter. The recovery might be, uhm... "difficult" ;-)

    Unidentified (derelict) tank - Afghanistan

Well, I've joined this forum mostly to help me figure out potential problems with a CUCV, but these pictures have had me stumped for a while now so I thought I'd put them up here and see if anyone knows what this is. I think that it's a T-34...

Fresh M1009 recovered from Ft. McCoy--starter in cab?

Looks solid! I hope my recovery goes that well, whenever the EUC comes thru.

    I'd like to help out

Thanks for the offer of help! I've been hanging around this board for a couple of months while shopping around for a M1009 and now waiting for the EUC to clear, so I'm still in the learning/info-gathering stage of what could turn into a MV habit... I've been very impressed by the members here...

What should I look for in a 1028 purchase?

BIG_Red, x2 on the thanks - I'm saving that list for when I get my M1009 off the lot.

Where M1009's issued with mud guards?

So that's what those letters mean... If I had more than one of the mud skirts installed I might have figured it out. Someday. Or not. Thanks, Bob H.

new to mv world! What to look for in my first 5 ton.

I'm not a current (or even potential) 5-ton owner, but I know the Army has used 5-tons with expanding shelters on the back (M934, and maybe other designations) as mobile CPs... a quick search on GL didn't show any currently available, but I'm sure some people here would know if they are ever...

Picking up M1009 from GL... keys?

Big thanks to twright and Recovry! I'll make sure to provide a post-recovery recap, probably in 6 weeks or so.

Picking up M1009 from GL... keys?

Thanks, everyone. Looks like I'll be showing up prepared!

Picking up M1009 from GL... keys?

So I took the plunge, and now I'm waiting on my EUC to clear so I can pick up a M1009 from Ft. Meade. With the EUC up at Battle Creek for a couple of weeks I figure it's time to start thinking about the pickup from GL. Mentally going through the checklist for the recovery (belts, fluids...
