    "no load" registration?

My Connecticut antique vehicle registration states "no load" in the comments section. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean I can't pull a trailer with anything on the trailer, even if I own it all?

    2-speed vs. double reduction

I see. So, given the two reductions, does this automatically indicate a higher numerical output gear ratio? Why have a double reduction at all if you can simply change a normal gear ratio?

    2-speed vs. double reduction

Can someone please explain to me what the difference between a two speed rear axle and a double reduction rear axle is? I'm terribly confused.

    M35 Dimensional information?

I found what I was looking for and am re-posting it for someone else to find if they are ever looking again. Thanks for the other info guys.

    M35 Dimensional information?

I know I have seen an image somewhere here that shows the length, width, and height of various dimensions of a M35, but now when I want it (of course) I can't find it. Can someone locate this blacka and white line drawing for me? Also, does anyone know the length and width of a standard bed...

    Panhard bar

Here is a link to a panhard bar diagram that is a good visual aid. It's for racing, but the principal is the same. http://www.afcoracing.com/tech_pages/panhard.shtml

    Panhard bar

I'd be interested in seeing a sway bar setup. It does sound a lot more complex than a panhard bar (or three). Would you have a single way bar for the rear suspension or one for each axle? Where would you mount it to the axle? You could always take a torch and put a california rake on those...

    Value of M35?

Thanks for all the info. I'll keep looking then, since it sounds like some people have unrealilistic expectations on what their vehicle is worth.

    Value of M35?

What do you guys think a good price for a good running M35A2 is? I'm just thinking average price, since I know options like a cab heater, air shift, turbo diesel, and hard top drive up the price. So, what would be a good price for an M35 with average miles in good condition be... or at least a...

Can someone identify if there is a turbo here?

Can someone tell if there is a turbo in these pics? It's a GL truck that they say is the 140HP version (naturally aspirated), but that sure does look like a turbo in the pic. What do you think? .

    Sealing windows

With regards to the highway shaking, I suppose it depends on what you consider shaking? A number of people report stability problems at speed. The military specified an all-terrain vehicle and built a good one, but they didn't bother to make it polite north of 50mph. The problem is in the...

    Aftermarket reduction transmission?

I just asssumed there would be more work involved in creating an adapter plate for a different transmission. I also was thinking of an aux gearbox mainly for reducing RPM's at highway speed. I don't think I'd want to ever go 70 in one of these because of the brakes, but getting more reasonable...

    Panhard bar

I've read about these trucks having problems at speed, and someone indicating the axle jumps a few inches over bumps. Has anyone thought about isntalling panhard bars on the axles? I don't know how a panhard would stand up to off-road use though?

    Aftermarket reduction transmission?

Has anyone thought about or installed a secondary reduction transmission (is this even possible?). I'm not familiar with the underside of the trucks, so I don't know if you can install an aftermarket reduction transmission? http://www.gearvendors.com/index.html It's $$$ though.

Pic of underside of hard top?

RE: Hardtop underside Ray, Thanks for the photographs. I have seen a few different versions of the hard top with different support braces and different panels. Some of them are round tube and have a sheet of some fiberboard with holes (like you might find in a garage). I just didn't know if...

Pic of underside of hard top?

Does anyone have a picture of the inside/underside of their hard top? I'm just wondering if they are all equal. I saw a place on line that is fabricating aftermarket setups.

    TRANNY HELP ! ! ! !

RE: Re: RE: TRANNY HELP ! ! ! ! Right. Well, if you lost your synchro, you'd still be able to rev-match yourself into gear if you are good. If you still can't get it in, then those gears need a look at. The problem with material in the gears is that if you get it out, you might lose a...

    TRANNY HELP ! ! ! !

RE: Re: RE: TRANNY HELP ! ! ! ! I use paint stripper. It doesn't taste as good as grilled cheese though. I used to use Trichloroethylene, but it kills mice just as good as it takes off grease, so I figure it's not too good to bathe in.

    TRANNY HELP ! ! ! !

RE: Re: RE: TRANNY HELP ! ! ! ! More dang little things on these trucks seem to break than you can shake a fist at. I know most of them are old, but it's not like they have 300,000 miles on them either. What gives? You'd think a military spec. vehicle would have more durable parts for...
