Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

When I was driving my 78 C10 with dual tanks, I would run one down to near empty, switch over to the other side and immediately stop and fill the empty one. That way they were never empty at the same time.

Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

I like the seat mounts you made. The build quality is superb just like everything else on this truck. Just curious, what are you going to do with the factory bench seat? If I remember correctly, it is like brand new. I am interested if you think you might want to sell it. Thanks.

We could sell the autographed pictures of Zout to raise funds for next years Rally. If we sold 8000 of them we would have about $80.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

@Pete: Check the bolts that hold the trans to the engine. I had a God Awful noise in my 1008 and thought it was the flex plate. I removed the inspection cover and found scrape marks on it where the flex plate had been hitting it. I had no choice but to keep driving it as it was my only...

The two reviews I read on Yelp were very entertaining. I give the 3 girls an A+ for creative writing while at the same time attempting to be as polite as possible.

I replaced all the fan belts on my 1008 yesterday. I went with belts that were 1/2 inch smaller than the ones listed in the CUCV Wiki. The last time I replaced them, I used the numbers provided and they were all at the very end of the adjustment range from the git go. When they got broke in...

I'm looking for a gaggle of geese right now. Can you haul them back to LA for me? LOL. This will be my first Rally. I hope to make it. Got the 1008 back up and running yesterday.

It is nice to see other open minded people. I am by no means knocking the purists that want to keep things original, I just want my truck the way I want it. Yes, the 24V system works great, WHEN it works. When it doesn't, it is a pain in my _ _ _. I do not have a way to effectively jump start...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I finished up the Roscommon 12V conversion on my 1008 today. Installed the brand new (NOT Reman) gear reduction starter, fabricated a support bracket so I didn't have to wait till I got the OE part before I drove the truck. Starts great and charges great. I am so glad I finally did this mod. Go...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Speaking of starters, I got me a brand spanking new 12 Volt Gear Reduction Starter, NOT A REMAN. Can't wait to do my 12 Volt Roscommon Conversion. I have opted for Version 3 which will give me 2 separate charging systems, 1 for all the stuff the truck came with originally and another for the...

    CUCV 24v to 12v How-To

I'm getting ready to do the Roscommon 12 volt conversion today. I already have my brand new 12 volt starter from Advance Auto Parts for $186.00. I am opting for method 3 so I will have 2 complete charging systems, one for starting and the original accessories and one for the winch I plan to...
