San Diego to Gainesville Fl June

He can't do that. He would have to go way out of route to do that. From San Diego up to the west side of L.A. would be a couple hundred extra miles in some really sucky traffic. From SD, he would take I-8 to Casa Grande, AZ and then pick up I-10. Stop by the Alamo when you go through San...

Starting my deuce after 5 year storage

Pull the intake ducts/filter and make sure nothing has made a nest in there. No matter what, I would automatically replace the fuel with fresh. Diesel doesn't break down like mogas, but 5 years in the desert heat is harsh on any fuel.

    Recommend a good CB

Go to the Petro truck stop on the west side of the loop. I believe exit 12. It's one of those, I know where it is by seeing the terrain kind of things. OK, some guys have mentioned some things without explaining them. Peak and tune are adjusting the frequencies on the transmit and receive...

    Recommend a good CB

If you are getting a Cobra, go with the 29 LTD and then take it to a CB shop. Have them put in big finals and peak and tune it. As some one that uses CB's every day and actually depends on them, I recommend Ranger brand radios. They come with the big finals already in. ALWAYS have any new...

Old Family Military Radio Hams in Puget Sound Area

Dang dude. I drive by your place a couple of times a week. I usually stop off at Brawley for the weekend at the SIL's house and then deliver Monday AM in Fontana. From there, it is back across 10 to Alabama. Once I get my wheels, we should hook up some time.

    Icy roads this weekend!

11 axles is 42 tires. (10X4 +1X2 tires) Each tire has an 11"X12" footprint. 42X11X12=5544 inches square of surface contact. 160,000/5544=28.86 PSI. My 1986 Cadillac. 4200 pounds. 4 tires with 7"X4" footprint. 112 square inches of footprint. 37.5 PSI footprint. The caddy does more to...

How many people get incorrect titles?

OK, now I have questions. I am buying an M1009 from a guy that basically does contract resales for the MCSD out of Barstow. What do I have to do to get this thing titled? What is the SF97? Can I not just go in with a bill of sale and get a title?

Disabling air brakes on m105a2 for recovery

Here are pictures of the two basic types of brake chambers as they are mounted on my Freightliner. The large, 2 diaphragm chamber is the parking brake and requires reverse air pressure to release. The skinny one is a basic one line brake chamber. Most commercial trucks have the parking...

B-20 Biodiesel, Ultra low Sulfur diesel in old diesel engines, like military

Actually, what you get now is Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel. It is 15 PPM sulfur as compared to 500 PPM in Low Sulfur Diesel. If you are using it in a pre 2007 engine, you MUST add something to increase the lubricity. Howes is an excellent product. As for long term storage, the bio matter is not...

Disabling air brakes on m105a2 for recovery

There are two basic types of air chambers (what some are referring to as a diaphragm) See attached photo. The chamber on the left with what appears to be 2 diaphragms is a spring air chamber that includes a parking brake. It requires air pressure from a reserve tank to release. The air for...

    Capacity?

I just replied to your PM. It is on Santa Ana, just east of Cherry. Take I 10 to Cherry (Where the Peterbilt dealer is), go south to the second light and turn left. They are on the north side of the road, across from SAIA. They have tons and tons of stuff there. Looks like a junk yard for...

    Capacity?

That makes me feel so much better. Thought I would have to change my plans and look for a 1010 as a hunting/bugout vehicle. I have a scrap yard in Ontario Cali that I will have to swing by next week to see what they have. I delivered across the street from them and saw them unloading a conex...

    Capacity?

Basically, all I am looking to do is tow from town to the desert. Less than 50 miles and most of that will be highway. If I installed a class 3, could I safely pull a 101 trailer with a box in it?
