Easy way to lower of M105A2?

I considered the issues that come with the increased axle speed. The particular trailer that I have had only 30 miles on it since the government had it referbed in 2007. The axle grease was still fresh, so I left it alone for now. I do have plans to replace it with modern synthetic grease once...

    converting trailer lights?

I examined the wiring for the BO lights, and its identical to the rest of the lighting. I installed a standard 7 way trailer connector. There's a port on the new connector for auxiliary power. I'll tie into that, and run a power port from the BO light pig tail in the back. I should be ok...

    converting trailer lights?

I was kinda thinking the same thing, but wanted a little confirmation. Thanks. My plan B was to use the existing blackout light wiring for some auxiliary LED work lights.

    converting trailer lights?

I know converting the trailer lights has been well covered in other posts, but I want to utilize the black out light circuits and bulb placement to gain dedicated lights. In other words have the lower B.O. light with an amber bulb for turn signals, the upper B.O. light for tail light, The main...

    m105a2 spring load capacity

I'm curious if anyone here has loaded down a M105a2 to the point that the helper springs are engaged. Sorry if this has been covered in other posts. I am removing the helper springs on mine so as to mount the axle inside the arch of the spring. The main springs look plenty strong enough for...

Warning 17.5 inch wheels are not a perfect fit on the M105a2 trailers

So I bought two 17.5 inch bud wheels for my M105a2 trailer. The are not a perfect fit. Upon cleaning and installing them, I found a gap between the trailer hub and the wheel. It's not much, (.007) but anything is too much under a load. I am going to correct this by making a spacer out out...

    salvage yard in Maryland

Just wanted to let people know that I found 17.5 budd wheels for my m105a2 at R L Jackson in perryville MD. Good prices and easy to deal with. They are a big truck yard only about 10 minutes off rt 95. They were off loading 2 nice 5ton drop tops while i was there. The owners name is Mark and...

M105 wheel / brake drum help

Yeah I'll post before/after and build pics. I need the trailer to safely handle 2 tons of heating pellets at a time. That's why I started with the bigger trailer

M105 wheel / brake drum help

About the height issue, I am going to put the axle inside the leaf spring. That will drop 9 inches off the height alone. with 235 85r16 tires, I'll drop another 3 1/2 inches. That will lower the trailer height from 34 inches to 22 inches. When I center the surge brake hitch on the main...

M105 wheel / brake drum help

Well I'm gonna play around on the lathe a bit and see what works. I'll post update picks. Seems fairly easy to solve the problem. I may sound hard headed about the issue, but I use a trailer quite often and wind up going thru a set of tires every 2 years or so.

M105 wheel / brake drum help

OK thanks. Do you know if the lugs are replaceable?. I can turn down a set of spacers on a lathe if they're that close.

M105 wheel / brake drum help

ODdave, I did read your previous post about the wheels. In my case, the wheel doesn't look like it'll even make it to the drum in the first place. With the back spacing of the wheel, it measures like the drum will sit inboard of the wheel. I hope I didn't offend you by asking again, I have...

Converting my M-105 to a Dump Trailer

I've got very similar plans for my M105. I am going to use the existing axle and move mount it inside of the leaf spring. I'll be removing the helper springs. Then weld a piece of 2" square stock where the current rear leaf spring shackle is. once its welded I'll remount the existing rear...

    Towing A M105 Trailer?

I picked my m105a2 today and drove about 60 miles home with absolutely no issues. I have a 2011 silverado 4.3 v6. I spun the lunnette and only sat about 4 inches too low. with bows and canvas in place, and no brakes i didn't even know it was behind me...save for the vibration from the ****...

M105 wheel / brake drum help

Hello, I'm in the same boat with the wheel issue. My M105a2 has a giant hub that sits about 6 inches from the actual drum. From what i understand the NPR's only used a 16x6 wheel. The drum on mine also has a step followed by a slight taper. From my measurements it looks like it should fit...

Easy way to lower of M105A2?

The M105a2 has a 10k axle and a double stack of springs. Without at least removing the upper stack, I don't think there is room for the axle. I am also trying to get away from the split rims.

Easy way to lower of M105A2?

Hello I'm new to the forum here, so bear with me. I have recently purchased a M105A2 to use as a general utility trailer. I'm looking for unique ways to lower the trailer down to a more usable height without sacrificing the look. I want to put smaller tires/wheels on it. From what I...
