    Soft Top

The bars may hold the cab top up when there's water on it, but they don't hold up when a 125 lb kid crawls through the the cargo cover and onto the cab!!! Don't ask........ :-(

    Block heater

Here's a very detailed thread discussing the block heater on the multi-fuel trucks. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/46008-m35a2-block-heater.html Grab a cup of coffee when you start reading, there's lots of good information.

    Fuel pump going bad?

McMaster-Carr, ordered the fittings, ferrules, and fuel line online. I have some extras in the truck. Later this morning I'll go see what part numbers. Some people will tell you to "do a search", but once I get the part numbers, I'll post them right here: McMaster-Carr: P/N 50815K104.

    Fuel pump going bad?

You might also look at the fuel return lines between the injectors. After I brought the truck home, I had to replace these, and the brass connectors to keep fuel up to the injectors.

    Fuel pump going bad?

My vote is with Gimp, air getting in, letting fuel run back out. From your description, the pump appears to work just fine, if it pressures up the system well enough to start and run smoothly. The IP will pull fuel from the tank without the in-tank pump running. That is, if there are no...

    Multifuel turbo on 6.2 Deisel

I think the IP is still needed, whether a turbo is present or not. Or is IP something other than injector pump? -jeff

Parts Needed in CT ASAP - Axle Boots & Airpack Rebuild Kit for Irene Emergencies

Hoping all goes well over the next few days. Maybe you won't need to use the big truck.

    NIOSH Report

I guess we are all just "preaching to the choir" so to speak. We know the limitations of these trucks, and we understand GVWR. Most of us around the fire service, or anyone that has ever hauled liquid products, know that unbaffled tanks are to be greatly respected. Any of you ever hauled...

    NIOSH Report

Got an interesting report from NIOSH concerning the use of Ex-military vehicles in the firefighting service. The report detailed 2 line of duty deaths due to vehicle crashes involving surplus 2-1/2 military tankers. CDC - NIOSH Publications and Products - Preventing Death and Injuries of...

    Problem after replacing battery

Yes, buy them in pairs. My truck had the U6TL batteries. One got to where it wouldn't maintain a charge, (charged them independently) and when hooked up, the bad battery drained the good one down to where they wouldn't crank the motor over (at least that's my uneducated WAG). This past...

    New Purchase, M35A1

Cool Truck! Welcome to site !! Don't worry about the "A1 were gassers", or "it looks like an A2 to me", etc. I'm just gonna say it was a typo, or tipo, or tiepo.... :-)

    Screeching Sound from Turbo?

The two sides of the compressor pulley separate. And this action also adjusts the belt tension. The closer the two sides are to are to each other, the larger the running diameter inside the pulley, and the tighter the belt will be. Wrench made especially to do this. Check the classifieds...

    In tank pump failure, pics

Probably could have mounted it behind the frame rail, and it would have been a cleaner install. But I wanted it as close to the fuel as possible. Nothing that can't be changed later on down the line. For now I am running, and that was the main objective.

    In tank pump failure, pics

Success! Got the new electric fuel pump installed and she's running, like a champ. Here's a couple of pictures for your viewing pleasure. Total cost, eh, about $75 for pump, fittings, and odds and ends...

    24v inline fuel pump

From my research, the 8135 is "designed for 24 volt carbureted applications", and the 8131 is "designed for 24 volt diesel applications". Don't know that it makes any difference though. paTracy, Thanks, I'll stop by some places tomorrow and see what I can find. Did you guys leave the fuel...

    24v inline fuel pump

Picked up the 8131 pump on Tuesday. Went looking for the fittings yesterday to get her plumbed up, but ran into some snags finding what I need . For you guys that used the Airtex pump, am I correct in that the fittings on the pump are 1/4" FNPT (tapered female)? And that I need an adapter that...

    Whistler turbo

Oh yea! I'm really thinking about a muffler these days, to knock the shrill down a little bit.

Then you would like a "whistler" turbo, for sure !!! :-)
