    MEP-802 Injector Pump Problem

Thanks. It took longer than I would have liked to get it running but I learned several things along the way which is a good thing.

    MEP-802 Injector Pump Problem

I disassembled the top 'check valve' portion of the IP and didn't see any rubber parts. I did not disassemble the main part of the IP because it was gummed up and couldn't get it apart. I saw some other posts of 802 IPs getting soaked in lacquer thinner for a day or two so that is why I did...

    MEP-802 Injector Pump Problem

Finally got it running....kinda sorta. One at a time, I removed each IP and let in lacquer thinner for a few days until they became unstuck. I ran it for a couple of minutes and then shut it down to check oil and coolant levels. Now it's not restarting. I can kinda get it to start but then it...

    MEP-802 Injector Pump Problem

Thanks for the reply and the tip about removing both pumps. Yup, the fuel pump is working. I put a fuel pressure gauge on the pump output, switched to 'prime' and quickly got 30 psi. And it's getting that pressure at the fuel filter because I unscrewed the bleed bolt too far and it shot...

    MEP-802 Injector Pump Problem

MEP-802 is cranking but not starting. The fuel filter was replaced and bled at the top of the filter housing. I cracked the lines at the top of both injector pumps and not getting any fuel out of either IP. Generator has been sitting for about 2-3 years and worked great before so I'm thinking...

    Loading MEP802 onto trailer

Thanks for the encouragement and ideas. I was able to get it into the trailer by jacking each end up with hi-lift jack and chain, stuffing a few pallets under it and pulling it onto the trailer with the hi-lift jack. Took me an hour but was able to get it on there.

    Loading MEP802 onto trailer

Anyone have advice or experience on loading an 802 onto a utility trailer without having a tractor, backnoe, etc to actually lift the genset? If the trailer has a ramp, would it be possible to pull it onto the trailer with a come-a-long? Thanks!

I hooked up my CUCV alternator wires backwards and now my truck won't start. Help!

If it's not your daily driver then take a deep breath, step back, get a multi-meter and start methodically troubleshooting the issue.

    Stencils for the M1009

The brass stencils interlock together. Then you just spray thru the stencils. I suppose you could use the brass stencils to cut out paper stencils but that's not necessary.

CUCV M1008 - Bypassing vacuum regulator

have you tried adding a can of Sea Foam then changing the fluids? That helped my tranny shift a lot better. EDIT: I also changed the filter too.

    It's TURBO TIME!!!

Take a look at this post. Seems like a lot of work to get rear turbo 6.5 into a cucv. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/27571-cucv-build-here-we-go-again.html

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Finally got my trans to shift normally. Replaced vacuum pump and Vacuum Regulator Valve since both were not holding vacuum. Shifts great now!

    It's TURBO TIME!!!

Wouldn't that require some serious firewall mods to fit the rear turbo?

    Paint Question

Appreciate the pics. Looks a bit lighter color than I was looking for so guess I'll be looking for another color.

    Paint Question

@SSDVC - do you have any pics that you can post of the 1009 in grey? I'm interested in a similar color and would be great if you have some pics you can share so I can get an idea of how it looks. Thanks!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Today I did the spin-on fuel filter mod on the 1009. Seems to have worked good and didn't take much to get purge air from the fuel filter. But, we'll see when it snows and I need to plow. It was losing significant power on uphill sections of our steep driveway. I think that was from the...

    Glow Plug Inhibit Switch

IMO, the 6.2 diesels are not hard starting IF you have a fully functional glow plug system. I regularly start mine below 30F without any issues.

    MEP-002A or MEP-003A

Welcome to the site. Looks like you've got a big generator there. FYI, you can download many of the TMs from Free Military Army Manuals!.

    MEP-002A or MEP-003A

Thanks for all the info. I picked up the units today and they are 003s. Haven't tried to start them yet but will in the next week or so. They are both low hour units (100 hours and 300 hours) and look pretty decent so I think it was a decent purchase. Got them both for $500 :)
