    Turn signal issues

What do you have if you turn the parking lights on and step on the brakes? With the duel filament bulbs 1 filament is the parking light and the other is the brake, flashers and directional. If you have a bad ground 1 can work until you turn on the other and then neither will be lit. It sounds...

    Turn signal issues

It sounds like bad grounds. Pull the lights and check for a rusty screw on the ground wire or a broken wire. It could also be a rusty bulb socket.

    Steering Wheel upgrade

Mine always looked and felt like a steering wheel so I never bothered. Unless you have power steering you may want to stay big. You need the leverage.

    Front leafs on M 880

I believe you will find the bolt goes through a metal sleeve in the middle of the bushing. The bolt and sleeve rust together. If you have to cut it with a torch it is messy and the bushing will catch on fire and smoke and drip melted burning rubber all over. Good times. And I believe the bolts...

I just went and looked at the rules to refresh my memory and saw this: "It is OK to post an item for sale if it is done in an effort to help another member or if the need for a part comes up during the course of a restoration or repair thread. EXAMPLE 1: Member A posts that their Deuce...

I don't think we have broken any rules yet but I wouldn't want to start talking about prices or doing the deals here. Some sites are stricter than others and I try to err on the side of caution. I have never had a problem on this site and I like it that way. This is a great site with allot of...

    880 arived

Many of the parts will be the same as a W or D-100 or 200. The 100 is 1/2 ton and the 200 is 3/4 ton suspension. Like WVCB already said D is 2 wd and W is 4x4. If you plan to keep it for awhile and can afford new go that way. I will look to see if I have the trim you need without the radio hole...

Converting front D44 to lock out hubs

I put the mile marker kit in and converted the axle on my M886. I did it because I had the cv type joint go on the front driveshaft at around 70 1 day. It locked up the driveshaft and snapped a front axle shaft. I tend to put allot of highway miles on mine so I didn't want it to happen again. I...

    WTB "Y" pipe & doughnuts for my '77 M886

How far are you willing to travel? I am in NW Vt up near Canada by Lake Champlain. I have many of the parts you are looking for to go in the back. I have 4 of the M886's and 1 that is a 72 Dodge ambulance that I am thinking about selling. If you are interested in enough and want to drive up my...

    1970 w300 Tele Maintenance Truck

You may want to change the ballast resistor. It is cheap and can cause the problem you have.

    Is the M880 gearbound

I don't know why your fuel mileage is so bad. I have been driving a couple different M886 ambulances for many years and I always get 10-11 mpg and I have a heavy foot. I got 8-9 towing a trailer with another M886 on it. I drive around Vt mostly so it is not flat traveling. It doesn't seem to...

    Towing with a m880

I have towed a few M886s hundreds of miles on an open trailer with another M886 with no problem. If the ambulance can do it the pickup should have no problem It slows down on hills and gets lots of looks but never a problem no mater how far the journey. You may want to put a trailer brake box in...

    Another M886!

Nice looking truck. You might want to replace the fuel lines. Ethanol tends to eat the old ones. The other thing many folks do is add a fuel filter before the pump to keep chunks from holding the diaphragm open allowing the gas to flow back to the tank making it hard to start after sitting for...

    Front hub bearings

Does the tire feel loose if you pull on the wheel like it is turning as well as up and down? It might be your upper or lower ball joint.

Thinking of getting a m880 any thoughts??

I did the conversion years ago in my M886. I didn't do it for fuel economy. I get 10-11 MPG unless I am towing then it drops to about 9. I did the swap because I drive highway allot usually at speeds around or above 70 mph and it was hard on the front driveshaft. I just bought a newer Dana 44...

    A Question About Lights

There is a wire on the plug of my headlight switch that runs the parking lights that was loose and had gotten hot. When it was modified the piece on the plug that holds the connector in was broken. I took the plug off the switch, cleaned all the connections and when I put the plug back I used a...

    Brake Lights..etc..

The tail lights should be both the combo brake/directional and the parking light. 1 wire goes to each and the ground is through the mounting bolts. Most of the times I have problems it is a bad ground. You can still have 1 filament working but it gets its ground through the other wire somehow...

    Cross country trip?

I bought one of my M886's in Fort Smith Arkansas sight unseen, took a bus out and drove it home to St. Albans Vermont. It was 7 years ago and gas was much cheaper but the truck took it fine. My first stop was an auto parts store and I checked out everything I could. I had the advantage of...
