While I'm not a lawyer, I'm not sure how you got holding them harmless and accepting liability for what a future person does from the agreement quote.
It is a DOD controlled item, the agreement follows the vehicle just like the EUC .

$41000? That just goes to show that some LED lights really increase the value of a truck.

For a first run at sales, and only 25 of the 4000 being sold, I wouldn't say the numbers were out of expectations from the guesses we saw here.
Prices will come diwn. Might even go up in the next auction due to more free advertising and a better location for sales, but, overall, I'm just glad to see these get in the hands of the retailers and the deeper pockets that think they need them yesterday. Some Of those looked really good. I hope the next lot is as good, and look forward to the next auction where, I hope, it is further out to the Pacific cause those folks have crazy money. Get er done!

So now calculate what uncle sam is going to see, so that we can bug our Congressman/Senator for how much waste was allowed by scrapping them before.

IIRC, $33,000 was the original purchase price in the '80's - so even with wear and maintenance depreciation these sold pretty well for the US tax-payer :).

That would be like going to the circus and with the cage door open, rattlin' the cage of a lion.

I'm not a lawyer either, but I've been through some legal stuff, and that's how I read it.

You buy the truck. The truck is found somewhere it ought not to be. Somebody comes looking for you to explain how that happened.

This is a quote from the form you have to sign:

Buyer acknowledges and agrees that neither GP nor DLA Disposition Services will haveany liability to Buyer or third persons for any damages of any kind whatsoever arisingdirectly or indirectly from Buyer’s use of the Humvee or in connection with thisAgreement. Buyer shall be responsible for, and GP and DLA Disposition Services shallhave no liability whatsoever for, any claims, suits, actions, proceedings, losses, costs, expenses or liabilities of whatever nature (present or future and environmental orotherwise) arising out of or in any way connected with Buyer’s use of the Humvee, regardless of the cause, and including any alleged fault or negligence of GP or DLADisposition Services.

Buyer agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless GP and DLA Disposition Servicesand their subsidiaries and affiliates, their respective owners, directors, employees, representatives, agents and attorneys and all persons acting by, through or in concertwith them or any of them from and against any and all claims, suits, actions, proceedings, losses, costs, expenses or liabilities of whatever nature arising out of or inany way connected with Buyer’s use, control, operation, maintenance, service, or repairof the Humvee after delivery thereof to Buyer or from any other cause including thealleged condition of the Humvee or any claimed fault or negligence of GP or DLADisposition Services.

Wow, those were some of the most expensive lawn ornaments/farm trucks I've seen. So how would these guys make money off them when you could buy a TITLED HMMWV for the same or even less than what they paid for these ones?

A 20 year old truck sold for $41,000.00 and didn't go to scrap, that is MV passion.....congratulations to the winners, tried to knock them down a little and of course just real happy they didn't get crushed. Just the thought of seeing a fleet of these together at a rally in the future made my Christmas.

Any idea how many of these will be preserved for historical value? Who bought and where are the pictures?

By the way, the original plan/budget/estimate is for the US Government to put $100,000,000.00 back in the DOD budget.
In order to do that, average sales need be $33500
GP gets their 26% commission, and the MVs are going to have to be runners on all 4000 MV sales to have any chance to get there.
You have to start somewhere in your estimates. If it doesnt go quite as planned, there is no shortage of HMMWVs to sell after the initial 4000 in order to fill the budgetary cup with this color of money (There are over 200 colors of money in govt. (ie monies with different qualifications for expenditure)

If there are tailwinds to the sales, we may see this as a near perpetual thing, but, if there are headwinds, sales could mysteriously drop off and stop all together.

Be careful what you ask for. The mouse who plays with the cat soon gets eaten.

The buyers must of had "I want it now" fever. Legit titled ones go for less. However, it was a good day for hmmwv's and fun to watch!

Lots of publicity equals lots of bids. I remember last year GL was on the front page of a major news network site and they had so much traffic the GL site crashed. I have to believe many bidders didnt quite understand the EUC process and no title offroad use only but only time will tell.

Not too sure I like their auction format....maybe it will grow on me. But the information on the trucks (pics) was awesome.
