I may have run across a WWII pioneer shovel if you need one. I bought it to use on the Goat but once I started working on it I figured it was older than my application. It's from the Wooden Shovel and Tool Co from Miami, OH and what I could find on line appears to be 1 of 14 WWII suppliers of pioneer tools. The reason I thought it was an older item is that the handle is all wood (other than a pin) until you get to the grip and then there's just a metal plate with 2 wings sandwiched between the wood. All the other shovels I've been able to ID had a metal portion going down from the grip at least part of the way to the shovel head.

It's certainly not mint and may be too rough for your beauty but it's there if needed. I guess I'll go back to a regular M-Series shovel although this one has a much more pronounced neck and fit better.

Still plugging away with the GPW. Spending too much time cleaning up the debris after what seemed to be a never ending series of downpours. Our drought should be over soon. Anyway, worked on the springs for the GPW since the rears were okay but needed refurbishment and the fronts were toast so I ordered new reproduction springs. Sandblasted everthing yesterday and primed all the pieces. Today I got one side painted and will do the other side tomorrow.

Work has been at a virtual stand still for weeks with the rain and humidity. Wanted to blast the axles today but too wet. Used the cabinet to blast the valve adjustment cover, timing cover and oil pan. In primer now but soon will get the New Ford Gray. Painted the motor mount plate and the bell housing plate as well as some other items. Could not blast the axles but used the wire wheel to get a head start for blasting.

The cab makes it ....This is going to be the best rebuild of a clown car ever....So how many clowns can get into this one...I counted 15 out of a VW Bug.

Twm has some pent up energy he needs to release......Viagra works better - then he can be releived to work on it harder (harder with his tools).

I must apologize for taking too much time. You need to realize that I do not use cans or spray paint. I go out on my property and collect seed pods and then grind them into powder and make my own paint. Unfortunately that takes time. I will try to kick it up a notch.

As long as PB can wait to get his GPW hand built for him by you.....i suppose i can be more tollarent as well - hard as it may be.

Besides them seeds you muster up for yor home made paint is not indian peyote by any chance is it ???? That could answer the reason why you forget where you left off on the work.

In an effort to satisfy some of the impatient folks, I faced a decision as to whether I should sandblast the rear axle or scrap the current plans and go with the 36 Ford Cab on the bed. As cool as that may seem to some folks, I could never bastardize the GPW as Bubba would do. Even though it was 97 degrees with high humidity I dawned my blasting hood and did the rear axle. Can do the front yet since I am waiting on a bearing socket to prep the axle for blasting. So....... here is a picture.

Great job s far...Even if it takes you longer, than a guy waiting to eat at a chow line at a army base.......When you get to the part of picking out paint for the little guy ...Don't forget Red with raceing stripes....looks bad.

Got some things done over the last few days. Received the engine back from the machinest and will be cleaning up the block for priming and painting. He did a great job stiching the crack in the block. Axles and brakes parts are apart and waiting for a variety of parts. Kind of on hold until that stuff comes in. Starting on refencing 1800 feet of pasture so I will be plum worn out tomorrow. Hope to get the first 300 feet done. Here are some photos of the engine, block stitching, axles and brakes:
