I believe AutoZone will only carry 12V models. Napa may be able to rush order the right glow plug in 24V, but I'm not sure. Still, the best price I've seen to-date on glow plugs has been at Erik's: http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/glplforhm12a.html The price is very similar at most places, with generally being who has the best shipping price being the determining factor. If you want to shop around, you can use the part numbers listed on Erik's. I think they covered all of the numbers for that part.

As you can see, this kit comes in at nearly half that price. With shipping, it's pretty close to break-even (still a better price with the overhaul kit), but I really feel the gaskets makes it very worthwhile.
Thanks, exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Tried to start it a couple of days ago at 6*. It cycled the glowplugs, then gave one halfhearted crank and clicked at me. I gave up.

Today, having not charged the batteries and having not done anything to it, I tried again. It cycled the glowplugs and started easily on the first crank. Today's temp was 20ish.

I felt obligated to do donuts in the snow covered field. Then went for a drive, just because...

My oil pressure gauge is stuck at 60, well I start the truck (and since day one) if slowly rises to 60 and never comes down till I shut it off. Does anyone have any experience if it’s the gauge or the sender? Just wondering which one to order first.

There was 50, now there is 10, selling five last hour.
Good find
Thanks
When I found it last night, there were 30 and no special note with the listing. After I told you guys about it, it jumped and auto-mentioned: "7 sold last hour!" I had my Grinch grin on after that, knowing that I opened that flood gate.

It turns out I had done business before with that seller. He's the guy I bought the wrong alternator from (all my fault, he didn't list anything wrong or in any attempt to be misleading) and him and I had a good chat about his eBay business and his customer base when I had gone to pick it up. Nice guy with a good business eye. He doesn't usually list things for less than what he knows he can sell them for. I'm betting he had way too many of these and needed the space clear in his storage area. He probably has another 10 somewhere that he's going to sell for $60-70 each...

Pull your dog house, remove oil pressure switch, and check it with a manual gauge. That will tell you if its gauge or sending unit.

Installed an airlift bumper and backup lights. What are people's opinions on painting the bolts to match the bumper?View attachment 715530View attachment 715531View attachment 715532View attachment 715533

I've always been amazed at how foolishly inconsistent the military is with things like painting shiny bolt heads while leaving highly reflective red/amber reflectors and plastic lenses and even clear plastic windows on vehicles for easy identification from afar.

Tactical? NFW.

I just left mine alone. Adds a nice touch i think. One that says "the buck stopped somewhere several officious first sergeants ago."

But seriously, feel free to paint them to your heart's delight.

BTW, what model antenna is that on the right and what's it's bandwidth? (frequency range?)

one manufacture :
Dayton Granger Antenna UHF/VHF AS-3588/GRC206 D/G PVU10-700 Cage 556S3

It has 2 antenna connectors on the bottom for both UHF & VHF. It is used mostly on some forward air controller radio sets from what I found.

Thanks, Juan. Too narrow a bandwidth for my needs. 115mHz and 150mHz frequencies. Did a bit of poking around, found on NSN-now.com:

Finished the install on my tach, it didn't work, ordered a new tach sending unit, trouble shooting gives me erratic resistance readings when I spin the sender so I hope that is the issue, all wires check out fine. Also installed new volt meter, same model I put in my 5 ton, I really like it. And yes tach is not in one of the "approved" locations but I like the location, even enough room to install the air restriction gauge (next project).

In the last couple weeks I have done quite a bit to my M1038. The hardest part was wiring. I had to completely build and replace the main wiring harness coming into the cab. After lot of wire chasing I have lights and everything else in the cab works again. Got all my heater controls unstuck. Installed LED head lights, new head light switch (defective on one terminal), new bulbs all around. Changed engine oil and filter. Changed tranny oil and filter.
Plan for the next two weeks includes full stereo system install. Sound/heat insulation with smooth coat bed liner over top on the inside and smooth coat white bed liner outside. New drivers side windows and windshield thanks to kids with B.B. guns. I will put up pics as I go.

I did a very poor inspection of them, they seemed fine. I’m really kicking myself for not swapping the wheels around, that would have told me a lot!
Get under there and yank on them and try to push the unions apart with your hands or small prybar. The nut and taper will not likely move, but if the taper shaft comes out of the socket to any noticeable degree you have a worn arm which needs replaced.

I can't find if you mentioned the year, but the gen 1 HMMWVs have a known weak steering. Very easy to yank the idler arm out of its socket, in my case... Hummer Parts Guy has the official patch, new stronger pitman and idler, or one can upgrade the entire linkage to A1/H1. I'm leaning towards the latter, once I raise funds.
