So as I understand it, MilVehs cannot be used in WI for any work - only show. If one wanted to haul a load of wood with a deuce, or put a snow plow on a Unimog, that would be a violation of laws & DOT regs. Right?

Note that the OP indicated a new style 4-door Wrangler. They have a long wheelbase, and 4-wheel disc brakes. The weak point for heavy towing on these vehicles is the powertrain.
Somebody else posted pics of an M101a1 with civvy axle, wheels, & landing leg. That saves a bunch of weight right there, and makes it more friendly for civvy tow vehicles too.

That said, KaiserM109 has my favorite all-time M101 adaptation. I love the solution using the original axle with replacement hubs. This is what I'd do...

One more - can you use radial tubes in a radial tubeless tire?
How closely do tire & tube sizes have to match? Can you use tubes for 35" tires in a 31" tire, for example?
Sorry if this is too dumb, I know nothing about working with tube-type tires.
