Check to see if the fan is spinning. the clutch fan could be bad.

I'll keep it stock. It runs and looks pretty good the way it sits, plus I'm kinda broke at the moment. I did put it in a Memorial Day parade when I first picked it up.

It was a long drive I took 2 days drive time. 60 mph 62 on the down hill portions. The truck drove good and my fuel economy wasnt too bad. I am glad that I won't be doing that again soon.

I want to thank bobr for all of his assistance in indianna. Not only was I able to store my truck a few days but also was able to get a few needed parts.

i just won a bid on a 5 ton in indianapolis and need to get her to jersey. i recieved an estimate from fast track for over 1000 more than i paid for the truck. if i dont get a reasonable price i may just drive out and pick it up and drive it home.. Any advice or help will be appreciated. Thanks

That happened to me as well. It may be your speedometer cable. When it happens again watch the speedometer needle see if it bounces and makes the noise you described.

If the truck has been running and the engine is warm it will start without the card. otherwise the glow plugs need to work.

I just rebuilt 4 as well . I bought the kits from a guy on ebay. He sent complete kits. Remember that these alternators have isolated grounds. And be real careful pressing bearings!! twright is right. I broke 2 cases.

Do you have any junk yards around? Perhaps a a pick and pull. I had a similar problem on one of my 1009s. check any/ all Blazers within a few years as well as 1/2 ton pick ups, and suburbans. I used a spindle and brake parts off of an 89 suburban. Just an idea.

Easy fix as long as the bolt did not break off in the shaft. Harmonic ballancer should be relatively inexpensive although I haven't bought one in a while. The bolt a few bucks at most. then just put it on. Make sure you torque it to the specs. good luck
