    Fuel Filter Unit help

it's true... yup...'86 with a 6.2.same truck i got my used hood from. I remember reading somewhere that on the civilian trucks, the fuel pressure switch would signal a fuel restriction...ie: a plugged filter.seems that the pressure switch and the water sensor were both wired to the WIF light in...

    Fuel Filter Unit help

fuel sensor... i assume this is what you have leaking.cool idea to plug it...something to keep in mind. In case your wondering, this filter housing is one i pulled of an '86 suburban...seems to exist in the civvy trucks as well.with some luck,a scrap yard might have what your looking for.

    new stuff...

compushift... the compushift transmission controllers are independant, stand alone controllers.they can control iether GM or ford "electronic" transmissions. The kit can vary in complexity, depending on the options you order. It's very complete...the kit comes with a tps standard, and a remote...

    new stuff...

well...sort of.the trans is almost ready to go in(96' 4l-80).and a used rust free hood from an 86' suburban,to replace the one that developed a nasty crease.the transfer case will be a 79 np-205,rebuilt by myself.it'll get hooked up as soon as i get the courage to try and drag the thing out of...

Dual Skyjacker steering stabilizer question? DANA 60 M1008/2

sorry... 1028...sorry i didn't respond to your PM.havn't logged on in a while. In answer,no i havn't installed a dual stabalizer.just chucked the worn out stocker, and installed a single heavy duty one.from rancho.I had a look on the skyjacker web site and the dual kit is,i think, meant for a...

    Update on my lift install!

neat... So your 6" lift is more like 8"....I can sympathise.my springs were so bagged that i seemed to gain a bit more than advertised as well. Ive always loved the look of those old school ground hawgs.pitiful on ice but almost as good as a swamper in mud IMHO.I see you have hummer wheels as...

    I Broke Steering Parts!!!

busted... The short drag link on these gm's puts huge pressure on the studs when the front end is twisted and your trying to steer.the long studs (i have this same block on mine)are under really huge stress.the block is really only a bandaid for the crappy geometry that this particular style...

    Military trucks in Canada

keep eyes open... i can't tell you wher to get one speciffically...i got lucky with mine.found it in the truck trader.company called "assets disposal" (i think) just outside of leduc. keep a lookout in the paper, truck trader, bargain finder etc.recently,Mitchner-allen auction house, had 10...

    ANYONE know what this is?

interesting... when i first bought my m-1010,i had a switch in exactly the same location...only they used a hi-lo light switch like you would use for hi beams on an older truck. traced the wires, but they went no-where. the wiring on yours is to light to directly be a cut-off for the...

    Painting aluminum

primer... The link you posted is pretty good.primer technology, and paint in general, has advanced a lot in the last few years.the metal conversion coatings and treatments mentioned are really used to deal with the thin layer of aluminum oxide that rapidly forms when aluminum is exposed to...

Minimal Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) for a cucv

batterys... The rectangular kind that also fit the cucv trays, are indeed group 31's.the trays even have the little pegs that stick up to locate them.the hold downs also fit just fine. I just had to buy a pair today...the front caved due to an apparent bad cell...the battery shop i use suggests...

    Electric Fuel Pump

fuel pump... for a civilian version,iv'e heard many times that a carter p4070 can be used.do not exceed a pressure of 20 psi or you'll blow the seals in the ip. a block off plate for the hole in the block will be required when the old one is removed . use a mr gasket pn# 1515 for a small block...

    700r4 swap into a M1008

trans swap... The adapter mounting on the trans is the same pattern as the thm-350.to swap to an np-208,you'll need an np-208 to 350 adapter and a 4x4 700r,as well as an x-case input shaft suitable for a thm-350 output (27 spline).mind that the trans output-shaft length ("stickout")has to...

    700r4 swap into a M1008

Calling Mangus... mike...When you put the 700r into your truck, what did you do for a starter? I ask cause' i assume that a switch to the 700r flex plate, means a difference in the tooth count...so the starter for the thm-400 flexplate wouldn't mesh properly. What did you have to switch to keep...

    4 inch Lift for M1008

lift... if your not going with rear springs i'd suggest a rear shackle flip and 4" front springs. on my m-1010 i found that 5-1/2" superlift fronts are rather stiff.i think any 4" "softride" pack will be fine in front.ORD makes good stuff. you will likely have to shim the rear axle any way...

    What axle is this?

confused? maybe....but no."unit" bearings didn't make an appearance in oem axles until adout '94.(at least in trucks) in dodge axles.on a w-200 it could well be a heavy duty d-44.the axle i'm referring to is a d-60-f with, believe it or not,a 5 bolt pattern. it did not have unit bearings ,but...
