Mike (mangus)- Cucv 700 trans update?

doubler... not planning on hooking the 205 to the 700-r...the 700 is really a glorified thm-350,so the np-203 that was super common on thm-350 applications will bolt to the 700-r with a few mods. the 203 accepts the out-put shaft of the 700-r.the mount to the thm-350 matches the mount to the...

Mike (mangus)- Cucv 700 trans update?

curious... mangus...what stall speed converter ARE you running...from various sources i figured something like 1800 rpm or so. after considering other routes, this is likely the best way to get a lower first gear and an overdrive into the m-1010...it will work with a 203/205 doubler rather well...

    CUCV Engine Color

green... mines definitely green.block, heads, water pump and all.the only black things are the air cleaner, and the battery trays.this leads me to believe that my 6.2 is the stock item.but i can't say for sure.

    Diablo Build Update (pics)

maybe hydraulics? didn't mean to rain on the parade... hope i didn't discourage you in any way.your build is way cool, and i admit i love the look of a bobbed duece with huge tires. One thing to maybe consider...since you have what amounts to a good size hydraulic pump for your...

    Diablo Build Update (pics)

rules of thumb... If you wired two 12-v motors in series with a 12-v supply, each motor would "see" 1/2 the voltage...approx 6-v.I say approx because of line and field losses you can't predict without the motors in hand. The motors would also rotate at 1/2 the speed they would normally turn. It...

    fording

interesting... in all my searches for cucv parts and accesories,a fording kit has never come up...but that dosn't mean it can't be built for cheap...run a snorkle to a sealed air cleaner and extend all the breather tubes to a high place is all you'd have to do. don't forget to change all fluids...

Do you know the proper name of this style fitting???

Phew... Happy to be misinformed... :D let us know what these fittings are called when you find out...

Do you know the proper name of this style fitting???

gah!!! If i read your last post correctly you intend to run a bypass filter completely "inline"...in other words your wanting to use a partial flow filter as a "full flow" If you hook up as you intend, with the bypass output to the oil cooler line in the rad',you'll end up greatly restricting...

Do you know the proper name of this style fitting???

fittings... i'm curious as well...as to your bypass filter,do you have an oil sampling valve? The valve on mine is tapped off a curious looking fitting that fits between the gm line and the oil cooler line...I took this off and drilled and tapped a second hole for a 1/8 inch NPT fitting. I used...

    M-1010 update...flex.

yah... for sure i thought of that...several people (local hard core offroaders) sugested the very same...remove it! Then several others(local "former" hard core offroaders...older and wiser) sugested that leaving it in place would forestall problems with death wobble. So...tonight i'll...

How did you acquire YOUR M-10xx?

sheer luck... Like it says, just happened to pick up a local truck trader magazine...a "liquidator" (i suppose thats something like GL) picked up a couple of m-1010's at an auction in BC and returned them to alberta. Saw it in the mag and bought it the next day.title was easy...all i needed here...

    M-1010 update...flex.

opened up the lower corners of the front fenders a bit,and took an inch of the back.i can now work the chasis a little more. Something is limiting front travel, however.perhaps the front shocks are limited in up-travel due to the crappy factory mounts.the front spring rate is definitely too stiff.

    HMMV rims on a M1009?

custom bead locks... Check this site out... WWW.pirate4x4.com Scrool down the page and you'll find an article on dean reads custom bead locks. basically a recentered hummer wheel.only available as 16.5 inch though...but they'll certainly do the job.

    M-1010 Tires and wheels...

shackel flip... I highly doubt i'll put a shackle flip on the back...i tend to look at it as being to high in front.I personally feel that it's a good idea to install the largest possible tire with the least amount of lift. The rate on the front springs is to stiff anyway,so i think removal of...

    M-1010 Tires and wheels...

Finally got the good stuff on the truck...37-12.50-17 BFG mudders on steel wheels. Still need a slight trim here and there, but not as bad as i first thought.A little on each rear body pannel and a little on the front lowers.with more serious mods i think i could clear 11.0-16's...next time. Gave...

    MV security

security... I don't know much about the deuce, but a few choice wires pulled here and there on a 6.2 powered cucv and it'll never start.sometimes not even turn over. sometimes it'll do this on it's own... :)

    M-1010 update...

new shackles... I made and finally got a chance to install new swing shackles for the front springs.anyone who intends to use positive arch springs will likely need these...i made mine out of 2" HSS steel tube ; with about a 3/16" wall...same thickness as stock.Just trimmed the tube lengthwise...

    Adding AC to a CUCV

air... I personally think the system from vintage air is the best bet...the complete kit has all the ducting, switching etc and they have a version that can be switched mechanically...no vac doors required. The ducting runs under the dash, and the switching replaces the duct lever panel for a...

    Get a Grip!

neat... excellent...i don't need this yet...i'm 6'4 and have no trouble climbing in the 1010. my real curiosity, however,is (are?),your wheels.i,m having real trouble finding good quality steel wheels in a modern size. 1-who makes yours? 2-are they available in a 17 x 8" ? 3-most...
