We have a problem with fire departments tapping the rear battery for 12V accessories, it causes the rear battery to go flat and the front to overcharge. Another common problem is a bad alternator regulator, or rectifier diode.
Here's my best guess, the oval window top is for a WWII CCKW, and modified to fit the M37, the sliding window top looks to be an issue top made for the M37, the last is a home built top. I've seen some really good home made (looks like factory) to some really sloppy ones, looks to me like...
Most strobes will run on 24V just fine, if it's from a convoy light kit it will be 24V. The 12V from the battery is for the engine preheater, leave it on and you will have battery problems!
It really depends on your home state, and how the vehicle is registered / used. Bottom line the DOT rules start with vehicles over 26001 LBS or are considered "combination" vehicles in most states. Here if the vehicle is 26001 LBS or over and has a fifth wheel installed it REQUIRES a class A...
Check with the DMV if your state has non-commercial classes, in Kansas you can get a non commercial "class A or B" it will allow you to drive the same "weight class" vehicle as commercial, only not for hire. For example if you own a five ton cargo the GVW is over 26,001 LBS it will require you...
How about this, not only send the complaint to GL but since they have a contract with DLA send a carbon copy of the complaint to DLA customer service, I'll bet they will get really tired of hearing from GL's customers about the goings on and might even have the DLA's Inspector General look into...
IAW the operator manual for the MEP-003A 10KW DED gen set for planning, operating use is 8.72 gallons for 8 hours of operation or 1.09 GPH, Ken's post verifys that at 1.1 GPH. at 120V single phase they are rated at 104 amps, 120 / 240 single phase at 52 amps, and 120 / 208 three phase at 34.7...
Did it for an emergency in the army (busted axle) chained the whole axle up and removed the prop shaft, I would not recommend it otherwise it will put a lot of extra stress on the suspension system in the rear, in operating these trucks in the military I've never had to worry going through that...
The problem is with the M939 series 5 tonners, the NDCC + air brakes + wet / icy just didn't play well together, at one time most of the fatal army MVA's were with this series truck, At the time the fleet was approxamately 5% with 60 - 70% of the fatalities not a good ratio! Most were loss of...
NEVER EVER use an ag shear pin, I can say from experiance they will not break before the winch / PTO does. That is a problem I have here with fire departments, they break the pin and then use a bolt or a steel shear pin, then they're calling me because they now broke something, after which I...
A little late but the military is using JP-8 as an approved fuel in all their equipment, trucks, generators and aircraft. JP-8 (jet A1) essentially is nothing more than kero with additives for aircraft.
The military semi trailers may have either system, most earlier semitrailers had air / hydraulic similar to the 2 1/2 & 5 ton trucks later ones (like the M872) went with an air only system. Since you are going to use the air connections on the duece to apply the brakes compatability...
