The brakes on those things were never very good, and in the military they were limited to 45 MPH on the road. I had an accident with one because of the brakes (it jacknifed) it wasn't pretty at all! Hydraulic brakes + heavy load + speed = Bad things!

RE: rims The rims weren't designed to hold air, you will have to use a tube and flap appropriate for the tire, IE radial tube / flap for a radial tire. The M170 should have had 7.00 X 16 NDT / NDCC tires as original, I've seen different bias and radials mounted on them, and a good tire place...

If you have a parts truck I would think it could be done easily! Remember many duece's were converted from gas to multifuel by the military, I've had several in the motor pool while on actiive duty.

Probably the same warning light as found on the 5 ton wrecker fender, some deuce's had an "A" frame hoist installed in the bed for light recovery / vehicle maintenance, I had one in Germany until we received heavier trucks and required a TOE change to a 5 ton wrecker.
