    CUCV COLOR

White was authorized for winter in Alaska, usually painted with a "temporary" paint, (during the summer went back to camo). The TB and Army Reg were supposed to be followed for painting, was it? in most case's it was "close enough for government work" as I said earlier all M1008 / M1009 were...

    CUCV COLOR

They were originally issued in the 3 color NATO pattern, forest green, black, earth brown. In the army many were repainted by units depending on mission requiremsnts, for instance units assigned a middle east mission would have repainted them sand, EOD usually painted their fenders red, units in...

    keys for military chain lock?

Nope all the locks used a different key, at least in all the motorpools I ran. The only key alike locks we used were on the wrecker for instance and only on the compartments, the steering was a different higher security lock.

leaking injector on my M1009 ?

The small rubber hose is the fuel return line, best to replace it if it's leaking. I wouldn't drive it with a fuel leak in that area since it over the exhaust manifold! (unless you like BBQ M1009!

    m54 with a detroit diesel

I'd think a 3-53 wouldn't have enough poop for a 5 ton! now a 6V53 from a M113!!! M.walker, nope I don't have any more info on that rig other than what the VFD told me, I know it was last stationed in Ashland, Kansas down by the OK border.

    M35A2 "new" brush/grass fire truck

DO NOT EVER USE BOLTS!!!!!! use the correct shear pins I've seen winch's with cracked housings and blown PTO's because of bolts (common for ag equipment). If the truck is on loan from the Texas Forest Service, contact their shop they may be able to get you the correct shear pins from DLA if they...

    m54 with a detroit diesel

I recognize that truck started out in life as a bridger and was sold at the GSA auction in Manhattan Kansas!!! A local VFD did that, they put a 6-71 in it, ran good but couldn't keep transfers in it. I asked why they didn't put a 6V71 and the answer was they had the 6-71 already sitting in a...

    Tax

Robyn, Not to shoot the messenger here BUT... I'm a resident of Kansas, unless GL has a DEALER license in Kansas you cannot collect the sales tax on vehicles, doesn't matter if you are a registered business or not, it just does't apply to vehicles different rules / laws, and to make matters...

    Tax

CUCVFAN, I agree with ya! You probably can get them to refund the money, BUT why don't they follow the law in the first place? If they do business in a state than they should be following the laws! Thats why I get so frustrated. Of course they won't do it unless the are forced to.

    Tax

I've been charged sales tax also, in Kansas it is collected when a vehicle is registered or when purchased from a licensed dealer which GL is not (at least here) and is collected at the rate depending on the county of residence, I too have paid the sales tax twice and find it a little...

    M548s on GSA

MadDawg308, You are correct, I rechecked the turn in requirements and found that that only applies to M561 and M998's, according to the FEPP desk guide, chapter 30 page 30-12 under "disposal of property with special handling requirements". www.fs.fed.us/fire/partners/fepp/desk_guide/fepp.html

    M548s on GSA

The state forestry would likely have to turn those back into the DRMO, they likely belong to the USDA Forest Service under the FEPP program (thats the program I work under), this would also apply to any M151, M561 Gamma Goat, or M998 series HMMWV on loan from them.

    Advantages of 24v

Auto industry has been talking for a while going to 48V, with all the electrical gadgets now the 12V systems are reaching their limits. When I replace glow plugs in our shop I use 10V ones, the end is different (easily replaced) and they don't burn out as readily.

What Fuels Are Being Used in Multi- Fuel Engines?

Freighttrain, I will respectfully disagree with you, Your truck you do with it what you like. If you get a rebuild out of Toole or Red River Army Depot's as I have the sticker on the engine says "Diesel Only" and the sticker further states the compensator must be hooked up to run alternate fuels...

best kind of batteries to use?

If the GEN2 light is on there is a problem that needs fixed. Were the alternators replaced receintly? These trucks use an isolated ground alternator and if they aren't replaced with the same type they wont work, also check the field plug, make sure you have voltage there and it's not damaged or...

What Fuels Are Being Used in Multi- Fuel Engines?

A lot of the engines were changed over to diesel / JP-8 onlyat the depot, if so do not use gasoline, here's how you can tell if it has been switched: Look at the return line from the injectors at the injector pump, if it has an elbow instead of a tee it was set up for diesel only. If there is a...

    using the STE/ICE-R on a m1008

Used them in the military, the M1008's didn't have all the sensors installed so the STE/ICE didn't have full functionallity, but it worked ok you will need to use the test cable and transducer kit for some tests.

    M52A2 VIN number missing...

The M52M1176 is the serial number, probably built by IHC, I've gotten several here, all were gassers though, maybe you got a converted one!

    no spark

You did put the rotor in right? don't ask, I've done that bit myself makes ya feel silly! Check the following: 1) Bad ballast resistor check w/ multimeter. 2) Bad ground on the ECU. 3) Bad ECU there was a test procedure in the TM 9-2320-266-20 maintenance manual to test that. 4) Bad module...
