Just a couple more. The cart was made from scrap wood that we had lying around, and 5 swivel roller wheels 4" from harbor freight 330lbs each. It is designed for one person to be able to hook it all up by themselves and remove it too. Then it can be rolled into a spot for storage.
I want to just share the completed project of mounting a Meyer plow to our fire company's M1028. This plow was donated to our company by one of our junior members. It came with the truck that he was given which was a 94 chevy 1500. What we did is chop the upright mounting brackets and moved them...
It is the other way around m4A1, I can take a pic tommorrow if the weather is nice. The driver side exhaust come across the front of the engine, and feeds the turbo, and then connects in with the passenger side. I will look just to make sure, and take some pics too.
I have a M1028 Contact truck that I am wanting to sell. I am at work now but if you are interested PM me. There are some pics when I first got it.

I didn't want to mess around trying to find something in the junkyard and then try and figure out if it was a 3.08. Or if it was a junked axle. I also don't have a shop to work on it in. Being that this is my primary mode of transportation to work on a 125mile round trip commute I needed it...
Ok here is the update and some pics. The axle came from colemans, though I think I would have preferred one from saturn surplus cause his are kept in a warehouse vs outside. My decision was time based. Saturday I went to Napa to get U-bolts, they placed the order and they were to come in on...
Another problem with this type heater is you just can't plug it in whenever you want. The engine has to be hot enough for the thermostat to be open for it to work correctly. I have one that is a Katz 2000W heater just like the one you have in the pic. I am currently having a zerostart 1000W...
Started hunting again on the web. The more I read the more I am wondering if it is just the injectors and not the pump. The only thing that I really have as a problem is the loss in MPG.
On the Axle, today I hit the U-bolts with penetrating oil and took them off one at a time, cleaned them...
I will call up napa tommorrow and see if I can get a set of ubolts saturday.
I would love to find where to get a IP pump rebuilt for that little $. Another fuel filter will be put on soon. I change that about every year. The batteries are on the new side. I am changing over to a 1000W in...
I have had to do the parking brake cable before when my original one siezed in the sleeve from lack of use. When I replaced the shocks this year I had to cut off the bolts the german mechanic had used to replace the U-bolt on the one side cause he couldn't find a replacement for it. He reused...
Just called Colemans today, to make sure they still had them. They do and they are $395. I checked their site the same day it happened.
How hard are they to change if you have the truck up on jackstands. Correct me if I am wrong but my thought is that it should be easy. Make sure it is full...
The funny thing Mike is that it was going in for an oil change next week and would have been changed to Rotella 15w40. For years I had always followed the Lube order on which oil viscosity to use. Checking the passenger glow plugs is a pain in the you know what with the turbo, cause you now...
Ok cold start issue. operating with glow controller, 12v system, ac60 glow plugs about about 1 1/2 years old, 2 optima yellow top group 31 batteries 1125CA or 950CCA 1 year old. 2 redtops in the rear that can be turned on for a jumpstart(these are isolated with a battery on/off switch). Acts...
Thanks OldChev, lol.
Well the truck is alot of fun. It is a tough decision cause insurance is low on an old truck like this and at this point I would get a little car even though I like having a truck and have had them for years. But a car would cost alot more if I want a nice reliable one...
Do I really want to keep putting money into my M1009 anymore. Over the years I have put multiple starters in it, a turbo, 1 rear axle now going to be 2, seals, u joints, injector pump, and other things. The body is rusting and needs work. It has leaks here and there, oil coolant etc. once it is...
Since I was doing research on it, I figured it would be best to share what I found and my experiences. Since I am going to have my truck in the shop for a flush, oil change I will let them stick it in. To me it is no fun to try and do this in less than 40 degree temps out on the street.
I know we have had people ask about engine block heaters in the past. I have had a Katz 1500W circulation heater (burned out from improper installation) I replaced and fixed the install that I paid for on the other one to correct what they screwed up. The replacement is a Katz 2000W circulation...
a guy just asked me if I wanted one as a spare. I already have one on my M1009. I think the only thing he was missing was the aftercooler. I told him to post it on this site.
