Ok folks when are you all planning on going out saturday. This week has become a little more hectic than I wanted, and am also working sunday and have a banquet saturday night so I can come out saturday to play for awhile. If anyone is comming up I 81 the exit 90 loves truck stop has the best...
I had problems with the 24V ones cracking the nose cups, dying, one that melted down from the rebuild, and my dad was having to deal with it while I was overseas, and the best he could find around here at the time was costing over $300 each. Plus i had a consistant draw with the 24V system that...
I follow the visor recommendations for temp ranges depending on what part of the year it is, though i have been kicking around going to 15 W40 diesel oil.
This is the starter that I put in my M1009 about 2 years ago but at the time didn't know about gear reduction starters. The parts site doesn't tell me if it is gear reduction or not. I do know that it cranks slower than the old 24V one did, but I have no other problems. I just am thinking about...
Fuel prices
As we get near to the rally weekend here is what I saw for Diesel on my way home from work comming up I 81 and route 209
Loves Exit 90 off 81 $3.79 Cash $3.85 Credit
Ravine Exit 104 off 81 $3.82 Cash not sure on credit cause their sign has one price but I am sure that is cash...
I am surprised that it is facing sideways projecting the sound to the side. Our fire company has mounted one under our utility truck (M1028). It is mounted under the front of the truck between the frame rails.Under a truck is a very tough on a siren. The only problem I have ever had with a had...
You just missed a couple of them that were up on GL in PA. I think they all went for under $200. I saw one sitting outside saturn surplus a few weeks ago. I know it isn't close but good luck.
RE: *****KEEP THE 24V and use a 12V starter******
Converted a couple years back due to going through a few 24v starters. I am very happy with the conversion though I didn't know to get the 6.5 gear reduction starter so mine does crank a little slower. Though I also changed to group 31's and...
I second the earplugs. When I drove from PA to Missouri the engine drone and road noise would have driven me crazy and a little more deaf than I already am. I have a stereo and Ipod in there too.
RE: Motor mounts
wait I thought Canada was just another part of the US. LOL
I found out the same thing when i was riding through Canada on my motorcycle and they had the new BMW suit before the US but it was close to $500 dollars more than the US price. That and I ran into one of the more...
The ones I got were at Naftzingers in Auburn. Here is the address and stuff. They aren't marked but they crank like crazy. For the price I couldn't beat it. I have found that depending on the place some battery makers will only sell their 2nd's / blemish batterys to their workers others will...
You can also get group 31 optima's yellow tops. Alot more pricey. Or find someone that sells blemish batteries and get the truck ones that they sell. The one truck I have has those and they were $35 each.
Mine is starting to act screwy. Back when I first got it in 99 I replaced the gear in the transfer case cause that shreadded. here and there it acts screwy in the cold but now it is getting worse. I am guessing it is the cable, but just haven't gotten around to messing with it. It used to...
Also check all large power connections and the vehicle ground. Losse connections can do the same as low batteries and dirty connections. I saw the same thing with a brand new truck that when I wired all of the emergency lights on it I didn't torque the ground down enough. I get afraid of...
RE: Won the Truck
Congrats David, I watched the auction. The M1009 I wanted went a little higher than I was willing to pay. If you need anything when you pick it up let me know. I am 30 miles from the Gap.
Yep you need 2 batteries for starting. Personal experience. I have a 3rd tied into the rear block on a switch. That way I can use it during cold weather when I can't use the block heater. I am only running one alternator. The reason they mention a 3 battery and running it as a separate system is...
RE: So I
I did lots of research, and went to see several vehicles before I bought the one I ended up with. Never got to look at it either. LOL ended up with a good one too. It took me two auctions back when DRMO ran them and I got it from Germany, a jumpstart and I drove it back to my base.
