Break down and get a deuce. That way you can carry the CUCV in back instead of a spare tire!
Glad you got going young'un!
Let's see pics of the Packard.
I understand about the farm tractor models, they have different oil filters too. I was just curious if the engines started ventilating more often when the turbo kits started being installed. I agree the oil pump has plenty of volume once everything is pressurized. I was just wondering if the...
We have all seen or heard of the infamous #6 rod through the block on the Multifuel engine.
Question: Is it just the turbo engines? Or were the NA engines subject to the same sort of failure?
I was wondering if tapping the oil gallery for the turbo feed line had significantly reduced the oil...
There are a couple of guys who put Cat V-8's in deuces. the 5 ton should have more room, as they originally had the R6602 gasser in them. You might have enough room to move the engine ahead and put in an 8 or 13 speed tranny as well.
I've seen something like that on a military bomb cart, the kind that can be hooked together into a train and pulled by an airport tug type vehicle. The towbars came off and could be folded for stowing.
These would be great material to build a towbar for a deuce or other MV. Cut off the "feet"...
RE: seats
I cut up an old golf cart seat and salvaged the heavy duty foam rubber. Used a shelter half for the material. I re-did both spring seats in my truck for less than $5.
In defense of the scrap dealers........
They are required to place the rolloff dumpsters at the scrap location. They must own a truck to transport said dumpsters. They have to keep the scrap area at the base clean, and handle any oil and fluid spills at their own expense. they have to take this...
RE: tires
I am a little over 125 miles from him. If anyone wants to buy some, I can get them to Aberdeen. I'll have my deuce, and can throw the M105 on behind if needed.
I have a PM in to him for some 14.50R20's as we speak.
That is the exact tire I want for my deuce. I can widen some stock wheels to match the A3 style width and offset, now I just have to find the tires at a price I can afford!
You can widen standard deuce wheels and run 15.50R20 tires. There is a thread on this that dates back maybe 2 weeks. I wouldn't mess with the 22.5 wheels, more trouble than it is worth, unless you have a source for tires in that size.
You can run the 1/2" size 20" tires tubeless, 12.50R20...
I have a pair of de-splined hubs for my truck. They really reduce steering effort and improved my fuel economy about 1mpg. If you want to borrow them, I can send them in a flat rate box from the USPS. You can try decoupling the rears by pulling a shaft from the front tandem and putting on one of...
The late 50's through mid 70"s Ford F-600 and some F-700's used 6 lug wheels. Most were set up for 8.25x20 tube type tires, we used to run deuce wheels so we could use 900 and 1000x20. Some later ones use 22.5 tubeless tires.
