    Towing A M105 Trailer?

Lunettes are tapered. Jim, We just pulled the lunette off a M105, just so you know. The lunette has a tapered shank, if you can get them started they pop right out.

    deuce w/ shipping contaniner?

How about height You have a some really heavy connexs. We have 3) 20' containers around our shop, the range from 4570-4890lbs. I agree the 8' overhang weight would be a big problem, but how about the height? It's gota be getting close.

interesting idea - German WWII prime mover

Just a different concept, not sure what kind of traction it would get, or mileage, or the fact now you have 7+1 drive axles instead of the normal 2+1 powered by the same engine, etc. Thoughts? Mike, I think it would look cool, but..... Don't know how much time you have spent under your...

    Tire changing

Was reading the "Bead Breaker" post, it linked back to this one. Thought it was as good a place as any to mention it.

    Tire changing

No Cage and chains. Cage, chains, or no chains what ever you are doing. The SAFEST way to put air in a tire, is to use a locking air chuck, a long hose and an air regulator. Put the tire outside where it won't hurt anything or kill anybody. Lock the chuck on the stem, use a regulator set to...

    Wet stacking after startup

I think it's OK I run a 653E John Deere harvester with a 6068 engine. In the manual it must say 100+ times to run the engine at half speed for 2 1/2 minutes before shut down. When I start it, I let it slow idle till the oil psi comes up, then pull it up to a 1000 rpm for 5 minutes or so...

    Towing A M105 Trailer?

There are 2 solutions to the trailer height, 1) Turn the lunette over, that will give you about 5 inches and 2) use some type of hitch that raises your pintle. I didn’t do either and my hitch is probably lower than your F250’s, so that is probably worst-case. You might want to consider a...

    M105s - Stackable?

Hauled mine this way rumplecat Don't know if you call this stackable, but we hauled 4)105's & 1)101 when I picked up my trailers from Camp Ripley to Washburn WI. The GL guy said there big fork lift was down, so we loaded on the center mount trailer. Our lowboy is 10' wide, didn't want to take...

    Run do NOT walk!!

This set up reminds me of the pictures of the guy that flipped the dozer off the back of a trailer. The one where it flattened his melon out to a 2D picture instead of a 3D. Not that a Deuce would flip over backwards, but other bad things. Mark

    tongue weight?

I just bought this hitch for towing my M101A1 behind my pick up. it's a 15 ton, with 4,000 pounds tongue weight. Comparing that to the hitch on my Deuce, The Deuce hitch has to be at least half again as heavy. Buyers 15-Ton Capacity Steel Pintle Hook | Towing Hooks | Northern Tool + Equipment...

    Winter warm up

I'm a logger and live and work in northern WI where it is fricking cold! If it's -20 in the morning and will warm up to -5 or warmer, we work. A diesel engine will not warm up at a low idle. I have a Pro-Heat, and we have Hilton Propane tank heaters on everything else, for the 0 and below cold...

    Cold startig

If your truck won't start un-aided in the 40's, you have more trouble than your ether system. Could be a tired engine. Mark

    Cold startig

We use ether on our logging equipment in northern WI a lot in winter, if you use it right it's not a problem. Keep the ether warm, spray while turning the engine over so it draws it into the motor. Mark

    Deuce Fuel

Wreckerman, Good friend is a diesel engine guru, rebuilds engines, pumps and injectors. What ever needs to be done to a engine, less the machining. He told me to pre-fill my filters with ATF, then dump a quart in the fuel barrel. Been doing it for 3+ yesrs. Engine starts right up with straight...

    She is finished!

Pete, Paint and stenciling looks great! Not trying to be critical, just wondering about stenciling "U.S. Army" on a decommissioned truck? Makes no difference to me, just would not want to get jambed up with the law. Mark M35A2 Deuce M101A2 Trailer M101A1 Trailer 3) Rokons
