Turbo rebuild- anyone ever done theirs?

I ended up just replacing the turbo. My impeller was out of balance, the center section damaged, and the end housing damaged. Parts kits are about $275 from Memphis, used turbo's are less than that usually.

HRD has not died! Crew cab pics, disconect pics

Looks like a Remco unit. I think HRD found the one for the full sized Ford pickup. I have been looking for one myself, keep finding the small ones.

    CARC paint

The stuff is slow to paint with using a suction gun. A pressure gun is much quicker, more like an airless. I use a pressure gun for all my painting, it's what I'm used to.

    CARC paint

Kenny have your local SW store put in some flattening paste. Shoots just fine. Spend $65 and get a Northern Hydraulics pressure pot/gun combo. You will never go back to a siphon gun once you use one of them!

Brand new 1 1/2 ton trailer value

I bought one here in Ga. at an auction for $100 and tax. A-1, complete with landing gear. Body was a little rough, but serviceable. Lloyd (poppop) actually did my bidding, I was helping my Bro in law on his house.

    Is Smoking Bad for You?

No more than I drive mine, fuel economy is not a real issue. I will be making the trip to Aberdeen this next year, so I am saving up my pennies. I do get between 9.5 and 10.5 mpg, depending on speed and front flanges on/off.

    what about dry ice blasting?

Sharp looking ride Gene! I agree with you, if the CARC is in decent shape, leave it alone. It makes a great primer!

Bjorn Do you still have the winch on the front? I know where one is, complete with bumper. The frame was cut to remove it. The guy wants $400 for it.

    what about dry ice blasting?

The thermal shock is what separates the paint from the substrate, in combination with the actual impact of the dry ice pellets. This is used in the injection molding business to clean plastic injection dies. It is also used extensively in the tire molding business for the same purpose. It does a...

    what about dry ice blasting?

You need a heck of an air compressor to drive one. As expensive as the units are, I don't imagine you will find one to rent.

    rebuilding rear axles

Amen on shipping costs. You are better off to try to find the vendor who can provide everything, and pay one shipping charge. The reason I mentioned Boyce is that I have seen them listing the kits and discounting them over the price of the individual parts.

    what about dry ice blasting?

Dry ice blasting works well, the only clean up is sweeping up the paint chips. Finding someone with a blasting facility might be difficult.

    rebuilding rear axles

Unless you are really unlucky, you will probably find the wheel brgs. are OK. Boyce carries full axle kits, and brake kits. I don't know how competetive the pricing is, but the convenience of getting everything at once...........
