    Any member in Wichita Ks?

Ah. Didn't know you were bidding. Since you live closer, I'll leave it to you.

    Help Needed

I paid 450 for one in the can from GL a couple of years ago.

    Any member in Wichita Ks?

All thinking about bidding on a deuce winch in Wichita. Anyone there who could get it in a PU truck and hang onto it until I can arrange shipping? Maybe someone who is going to Aberdeen, I could get it there.

    XM757 steering

If you have one that is frozen, drill it and grease it. You aren't out anything but a little time. I drilled and greased many, many tie rod ends when I was turning wrenches in the late '70 s and early '80 s. The top cap is just sheet metal, easy to work with. You would be surprised how much...

I know some of you are restoring these. Just a heads up.

Nice looking old truck. Looks like it would not be a bad one to restore, as it is still pretty much original except for paint.

    Help Needed

Pull the injectors, put the tranny/t-case in neutral. Try to turn it over. Depress clutch pedal and try again (in case tranny is somehow locked up). If it still won't work, pull tranny and try to turn engine at the flywheel. I'm afraid it doesn't sound good! Pulling all belts is a good idea...

    Two tone wheels

Lots of fire dept. boys dress up their trucks by painting the hubs and lock rings silver or white. Adds a nice touch of contrast to an otherwise all red truck.

    Two tone wheels

Ah. Live Oak wheels. Not terribly bad looking at all!

    Two tone wheels

I have seen old firetrucks with 2 tone wheels before. Nice score on the M34 wheels! Tires look decent as well!

    XM757 details

We had a 72 IHC dumper with a 450 and a 6 speed Allison. All the retarders had been disconnected on those trucks due to blowing tranny seals. I don't know how reliable those older juice boxes were with the retarders, but they were fine without them. Check the flex plate bolts, there is a stack...

    Help Needed

I would wonder if it popped a rod in the first 20 seconds.

    XM757 steering

Bjorn You are fighting the power steering cylinder, it will give you that funny "rubbery" feeling. I would drill and tap holes in the top cap of the tie rod ends and install grease fittings. Those "sealed for life" joints weren't all they were supposed to be when they first came out. Remember...

    Winch Shear Pins

Kenny brought up a valid point. If the holes are wallowed out in the winch input shaft or the driveshaft yoke, you will shear pins much easier than if the holes are in good shape. If the hole is oversized, a standard pin will be cut, rather than holding against shear pressure. You can run a...

    Winch Shear Pins

I read in one of the 1950's tech manuals that the steel pins had been replaced with aluminum to prevent damage to the frame or driveline. I have seen wrecker frames twisted all over the place when people winched off to the side with the truck up against a tree. The winches were designed to...

Transmisson HELP no 2 or 3

Look in the tech section and download the transmission manual for the multifuel. I think there may be a woodruff key that holds one gear onto a shaft. It may have sheared off.

Whats the scoop on dumps in Mississippi and more trucks LA

Remember what salt water does to bearings and gears! The flood trucks were underwater for over a month. You will find that all roller bearings will be pitted heavily where they were in contact with the races, and the races will be damaged too. Ring gears and pinions do the same thing when...

Transmisson HELP no 2 or 3

The tranny looks normal, as do the shift forks. Try shifting the top cover and make sure the forks are moving. If they are, then move the 2-3 shift drum in the tranny by hand and see if it goes in gear. You can shift the t-case into neutral and turn the tranny output shaft to see if the tranny...

waste oil/waste trans fluid mix for Deuce use

I have run between 25 and 50% waste motor oil with no issues other than the smell at higher concentrations. 25% is a good place to start. I pump my oil from a drum with a hand operated fuel pump with a regular diesel fuel filter/separator on it.

    Locking gas cap on Deuce

Nice looking lock. It will not keep out a determined thief, but none will. This would definately stop the casual "watch me p*** in this gas tank" vandal.
