I use Amsoil products in everything on my M37/M42. It has the lead/zinc for the tappets and cam and the lighter viscosity in the gear cases makes everything run much smoother. Lubricants have improved significantly over the last 65 years and I try to take advantage of that.
I also use an...
I found the MWO, Rhodesia. Now I'll try to scan it into my files and post a copy.
If I can't post a copy, you may have to send me your direct email because I can't add attachments to the PMs.
Most of the connectors on my M37/42 are 3 pin and I have standardized on A=24+, B= Ground or -, and C is unused. For large connectors, the other contacts usually have defined (i.e., Left, Right, Clock, High, Low etc.) functions.
So far this system has served me well.
If you don't find an exploded view of these, let me know and I will post some pictures of my sliders. I have a set sitting on the shelf, and if you can describe what you would like to see, I'll try to get you some photos.
Your governor on the carb needs adjustment. It is not a difficult job, but you need the correct tools.
There are a number of threads about this problem on the G741 website: http://www.g741.org/PHPBB/index.php
There is a lot of help over there since it is a M37 only website.
Good Luck!
If you use those extra gates on the front, you will find it is a very convenient upgrade.
I did it on mine and I am amazed at how much more useful it makes the trailer for very little work to install.
Just something to think about.
I've got a S-144 which is also for a M37. The S-89 was steel and the S-144 was aluminum (and no windows). The door also opened with the hinge on the right instead of the left.
I can send pictures of the S-144 but a far better source for S-142 & S-144 photos is Ron Boltz at rattrig.com
Try looking here for club near you. If there isn't one close enough, call one of the people in the closest club and ask for a name of someone near you with a M37. I'm sure they will be able to help you.

I don't know what that is, but it doesn't look like any installation I've ever seen.
I think it would helpful for you to find a local MV show to go to to look at some M37s. They may all be unique, but you should be able to see lots of stock installations of various components used on these trucks.
Worst case you can make one. It is just a piece of flat bar stock with a couple of holes.
If you haven't talked to Vintage Power Wagon, call them and ask for Steve. He can usually find what you are looking for.
Good Luck!
That is a very nice looking truck to start with. I think they are great little trucks and so simple to work on. Like working on an old farm tractor that you can drive down the road. As long as you have the patience to go slow, they are great.
Keep your eye out for the manuals, buy them when you...
Now you have a top that fits! That is a great improvement.
Congratulations!
The snaps may not be stock, but I think they look nice and if they are functional, that is a great improvement on the original design.
Now, on to the next project.
Good Luck!
If you are serious about keeping this truck long term, you should start saving your pennies, dimes and nickles for a complete set of new wiring harnesses.
There are lots of areas in the harnesses that have gotten stiff and brittle over the last 55 years that the truck has been rolling. The...
That is the bracket I am looking for. I am willing to either buy or borrow one to make a copy (or buy a copy someone makes).
Please let me know if you find one.
Thanks!
Over the years, I've accumulated a lot of local mechanical, sheet metal, interior, paint / finish vendors and suppliers.
I also work in the engineering field (certification and compliance more than design) so that helps.
Let me know what you are looking for and I may be able to point you...
I'll send you a couple of pictures. It is behind the cab on the right side in the forward corner of the cargo bed. Fits perfectly.
Also, because I store my cargo bed bows vertically, I can strap it to those, but sometimes I smack my head on it, so it usually goes in the corner of the bed.
Thanks for the help, just me, but I called and talked to Jens at VPW and they only have the single piece bracket. If they could find (or borrow) a 2 piece bracket they would start making them, but so far they haven't found one.
I appreciate the help, but please keep looking for one, if you...
