Oh man......I'm gonna have to get me one of those tru hitches. That is the cat's pajamas. I like it a lot......
Another option just in case you can do it is to load the front of the 920 over the fifth wheel on the 915. I have seen it done. Don't know how it works. I have seen some that had a...
OK. This is strictly anticdotal but I have it on good authority that the 915 can be turned around by just about anything in a towbar, flat tow situation. And that would include 915 towing a 915 or a deuce. Maybe not a CUCV, but you get the point.
So the bigger heavier longer 920 I would...
That's OK Hoff. Keep Jackin'. This thread has pretty much gone nowhere other than we all know it all and nobody knows nothin about nothin. I had a gone with the wind post all typed out but it got kicked out cause you and MCMULLAG posted before I could reloggin. It was all antecdotal so it would...
Tom's making the new OD gears for the M-35 tranny's. We can send him a message and see what he says about the XM 791.
As for the body......We can get away with an M-4 type expansible van body. It should bolt right on from what I have researched. All the nomenclature I've seen say's it's a...
So far as a farmer we don't have to go with USDOT or FEDWAH #'s on our farm trucks yet because we are not for hire. I say yet. And we still have grey areas on what total GCVW we can haul as farm. But you all know how that goes........And all of these trucks are farm trucks don't ya know. The...
If I understand correctly the Allison tranny in an A3 is the AT 1545 P which is a four speed automatic non overdrive. The transmission in these XM791's is an Allison 200 six speed. I don't think they are the same dimensionally but anything can be made to fit.
More importantly I don't know the...
I don't think we have enough JB weld yet.....Maybe we need to buy stock in the company. I usually like to get more complete projects.
I was just looking at the trucks for the LDS motors originally. I knew the trucks were a bit on the rare side but did not think there was enough to put Humpty...
4955. I love that tractor. All 40,000 + lbs worth. It's my big mean green machine. We have the old 2950, a 250 skid steer and the "antique" 620 grandad bought new in 57'. You can say I have a double strain of the green disease in my blood.
We will need all the luck we can get with these 791's...
Good advice DH on the towbar. We are rookies with respect to tow bar etiquite. WillCo. In fact I will flip the pins before we take the tow bar off. It came that way from GL. Not a good excuse in not paying attention to it. Thank You.
From all the research I have done I can't find where the M-4...
In the last few weeks we have been having a lot of trespassing on the farm with people asking me about scrap. People either open the gates with the six no trespassing signs on them or just block the gates and walk a quarter mile from the highway down to the yard.
With the last guy I kind of...
At least you didn't forget to put the transmission in your deuce.........
And at least you didn't take me out and have me shot for forgetting to help you with the tranny. It was great to see your truck and your wife there.........Oh and you too.:D
I've run 9.00 20 tubes in my 395 85 R 20's on stock rims with stock flaps. They will work.......but not forever. Nothing lasts that long anyway. I change my tires and tubes out myself so it's just my sweat equity that I have in them.
Out of the 8 395 tires I did on my deuce with the 9.00 20...
OK. Here's what I know about shipping a privately owned MV by rail.
I tried this 10 months ago with a 5 ton tractor and a 5 ton dumper. The dumper was in California and the tractor was in Pensylvania. I'm in Denver.
I called the major rail companies. CSX and NP called me back. Nice folks...
What I know about Lucas and Amsoil.
I've been running the Lucas Fuel conditioner in my Farm Tractors for 15 years. They burn a bit cleaner in the exhaust and slightly cooler engine temps on hot days when running the pto equipment, mower and bailer. They also start easier on cold days...
My deuce reads 60 psi ALL the time on a 60 psi guage unless it is real cold out and the engine is idling low. Then it reads 50 psi till it warms up and the idle speed increases. I don't know what the actual top end pressure is.
Don't listen to Steel and Canvas.......Both his deuces are currently broken.:p
Seriously though SnC knows his stuff.
Usually when I get the death wobble it has to do with alignment. Shocks can be a culprit too.
Tie rods, drag links and king pins.
Tie rods and drag links are easy to...
They are nice. IMO a little short but that way it tends to not get overloaded.....It does the job. It would be nice if it had 20 feet of deck. One could build loading ramps for it or a dovetail with ramps. I have not gotten that far yet as I have tractors with hydralic lifts to load stuff on the...
