Round II, Front Prop-Shaft is out.
With show coming in late today, I decided to pull the front prop shaft to get ready for transport back to Drive Line & Gear for a quick inspection.
I have a feeling that even though it was installed 'New' back in early September, it may need work. I made a...
Drive-line and Gear. The shop has a location in Reno/Sparks and Fallon, NV. Very experienced and helpful folks!
there is a tom of big truck business in this area, just off Interstate 80, so for that I am fortunate..

To add my recent experience to this vibration problem question, in the hope that we can all learn..
I pulled my rear prop shaft out and took it to a local drive-line shop here in Sparks, Nevada. They work on mining equipment and heavy 4x4 and 6x6 NV Energy utility trucks, and have decades of...
Again, I crawled under mine yesterday to check the rear prop-shaft. I found play in the splines and a pooched rear u-joint. My A-0 truck has had the 'D' mod redone and the current prop shaft is definitely the 4" unit. I just snowed here...finally, so I plan to pull the prop shaft and have it...
I have done a bit of research into the Wabco, now Meritor #461-315-161-0 treadle brake valve. New, they are hard to find and hella expensive. Northward of $500 large was my quote. No sign of a 're-build kit' of any kind. Might be a case of obvious product liability as previously stated.
I may...
We bought our M-1078 from a Private party in Pennsylvania 2-years ago. After assurances that it was in good shape, we decided to drive it home to Gardnerville, NV. First issue was in Indiana in cold weather and involved loose coolant hose clamps. Tightened all of them and we were good until...
After reading all of the shared testing info from post #56, It looks like the conclusion is that the CV driveshaft was the recommended unit to eliminate the acceleration issues causing the destructive and restrictive vibrations.
As I live in the Reno/Sparks area I plan on investigating this as...
This is what I was looking for thanks NDT! One thing though.. At one point the new valve is shown with one port plugged. Later in the write up it was shown with two of the lower ports plugged..? Any insight would be helpful as I plan to tackle this this coming weekend..

I just purchased a new heater box for the Himars model from Will. It was suggested that I also upgrade the parking valve to one of the new dual modular units.
There is a lot going on in the new heater box and so much crammed in the left side.
Has anyone done this modification and are there...
Interesting... 2 questions:
What/How did you rotate the crank to bring each rocker up to TDC when adjusting.
What are the cold specs for the adjustment?

So what about this is an upgrade? Bigger? Spools up faster? I have heard that the higher output 3116's had bigger turbos, but I would think bigger injectors would need to go with that sort of 'upgrade'..

Thanks for the photo. I've looked at many of these trucks over the years and have never seen this on any of them. Would be nice to find one, or a few..

I had an offer from a local drive line shop (and a Spicer authorized dealer) to rebuild my old one for $525.00. I found the heavier duty unit and jumped on it.
I may need to rebuild when the rear goes..
