That is my truck, but I was absolutely not driving!!!
A friend (who used to race figure eight's) said he would do it, if it was ok with me. I told him that if he had the ____s, go for it.....
You see the results!
and Stretch is right, it is far to steep to WALK up...[thumbzup]
It was SOOOO...
Rip,
I would happily do all your searching for you... Just pm me your username and password!
rofl
but seriously, maybe it is time to clean up the laptop!
Dave
If you bypass the FDC it "defaults" to high flow.
My truck may be slightly smokier when cold, but it runs and drives the same overall.
Some have suggested that IF you bypass the FDC, you should keep an eye on your EGTs with a pyrometer (more fuel = higher exhaust temps).
I honestly think a...
Russ,
I am not sure how to answer your first question. I don't think either (too thick or too thin fluid) would endanger your engine, but your engine performance would likely suffer (one of the more senior members can probably answer better...)
I would imagine you can replace the seals in the...
DEFINITELY gear oil!!!
Even if you aren't very mechanically inclined, replacing these seals is pretty easy.
I stumbled across this adobe document, and I think it does a pretty good job explaining step by step rear seal replacement.
I would suggest that each tire be removed...
Russ,
Thanks for pointing out that I completely failed to answer your question!:-)
There are seals internal to the FDC that seal crankcase (pressure oil return) from fuel (where the viscosity sensing takes place). If these seals leak, your engine will begin "fueling" your crank case and...
The fuel density compensator is technically a fuel VISCOSITY compensator. The mechanism in the compensator allows more fuel to flow when the fuel viscosity increases.
Think of it as if you were running straight gear oil. The FDC would allow the much more gear oil to flow, than if it were...
Cross-Referencing for treeguy....

Thanks again for that list, I will be putting it to the test as I install a winch this weekend!
Dave
eagle,
You definitely got a good looker, those tires are suhhhh WEET!
Were in IN are you? If your interested, the Haspin rally is in June.... LOTS of fun!
congrats!
Dave
Guys,
Here are a couple pics of one of the trailers I have recently sold.
I pulled two 1/2 inch bolts, set the parking brake, and backed the truck up.....
A couple of pointers:
-- Loosen the bolt that attaches the draw bar
-- Remove one of the P-Clips that retains the wiring...
I am assuming this does bad things to the Alternator, but what would happen?
Fire? Melt? Just stop working?
And what would actually be damaged? Alternator? Other wiring? Something else?
... AND ... An even better question.... Do you know by experience? :D
Thanks,
Dave
10.9 means its a metric bolt.
What are the odds of GM using a metric fastener in this truck?
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a "lost bolt" from somewhere or something else...

G.
Next time I am in your neck of the world, I'll drop off that case of cerveza I owe you for your help!
Of course, it may be a while before I make it... but its the thought that counts right?
Thanks!
Dave
G,
I took a couple of the shift shaft seals to the local seal supply store. They looked it up as a 0.6875 (11/16ths) shaft size. Quoting me a CR / Timken 6767.
The CR / Timken numbers you posted are for 3/4 inch shafts (CR/ Timken 7443).
Do I have an oddball shaft? Is there something I...
gvaneck,
That makes me think your starting is engaging while the engine is running.... Maybe a relay is sticking? Could be something internal to the starter (bendix?)
I am sure someone has more experience will pipe up...
Good Luck!
Dave
