New toy Home not green but BIG

Nice find!! I own one of these myself and have worked it for many years up here in Chama NM. (7860ft above sea level) I don't have a manual either, but in my opinion it would not do you all that much good anyway, because they all have been rebuilt/modified in different ways since 1945! These...

More engine problems (Documentation of testing fuel system, failure of Hyd Head)

I'm really sorry to hear about all your trouble, I know how frustrating this can be! I'm not real familiar with your particular engine, but for whatever it's worth, here are a couple of probems that I have run in to in the past. All the things that you mentioned in your thread, (only runs at...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

The MK48 cab has a big tunnel through the center of it, that should provide adequate air flow for the radiator. I guess I will find out....lol

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Thanks for the good suggestions! The M916 actually uses a single speed, 1:1 rato, Rockwell transfercase I will switch the FEMTT over to a Oshkosh two speed 55000 transfer case as soon as I can locate one. I need it for low range, since the truck lacks low off road speed.

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Richard, Thanks for your input! Air ride is definately a possibillity in the future. I want to get the truck usable as fast as possible though since I use it alot, but front air ride would be really sweet! So the plan is to "tweak" things after I get to drive it and find out what really needs...

    Removing DRMO Graffiti

Justin Wehring introduced me to the use of carburator cleaner....It takes it right off and does not hurt the CARC! There is a slight white cloud left after use but it will disapear when the truck is washed with water. Hope this helps....

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Yes, I thought of that for sure! After doing some research though and finding out that the Eaton axles, used by Oshkosh in the Mk17, were specifically designed for the LVS only, I decided against it for the following reasons: -The third member with it's air locking differential and the 5.43 ...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

So the good news is, that the FEMTT has a fuel tank again. No more jerry can on NAPA buckets! The bad news is, that the U-joints on the M916's factory steering stub shaft that I assumed to be Spicer 1000 series U-joints, turned out to be Rockwell LN6s! So therefore the Spicer 1000 series...

    Caution when Parking Your MV.....

I know, I know....my bad for parking there, but what really made me MAD was the fact, that I had just gotten my new chrome wire wheels for the rear and even put wheel locks on them....SO THEY JUST TOOK THE HUBS OFF AND STOLE THE WHEELS, DRUMS AND ALL.....!!!!! :(

    Caution when Parking Your MV.....

Just a word of CAUTION, when leaving your "Prized Military Vehicle" unattended in high crime area parking lots.....IT MIGHT LOOK LIKE THIS WHEN YOU COME BACK!!!!

M920 M870A1 combo with Accuride Wheels

Thanks....that's a very nice offer!! I really like the way your M920 and M870A1 look all in camo! So how do you like the ride with the new wheels and tires? Did you use any "Equal" in the 445s?

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

No "state secrets" on the paint..lol I use "Camouflage Sand" from RAPCO #30277 :)

HEMTT and MK48 LVS use the same cab?

The cab mounts are very different to! The HEMMT has two smaller cab mounts, next to each other, right below the windshield, where the Mk48 has one large single mount, in the center, on a lower cross member that does not exist on the HEMTT cab. The HEMTT also has TWO rear windows where the Mk48...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Steering Setup Well.....The snow finally stopped and, to put the "icing on the cake", I got the box from Fedex that I have been waiting for.......so it's time to tackle the steering setup! :) As I mentioned earlier, I am keeping the steering box and all the linkage in it's original location...

Here are a couple of pics of the M870A1 with the 17.5 tubless tires.

M920 M870A1 combo with Accuride Wheels

That all looks really "bad ***" !!! I like the way the Bridgstones look on your M920! I'm glad the wheels are working for you, I would not trade mine for anything! So I just swapped the rims and tires on my M870A1 from the 10.00x15s, split rim, tube type to 235/75 R17.5s on tubless rims. I...
