Wow am I glad I live in the country! I must have 150gal of oil around in case I need some in my vehicles. I buy Hydrolic oil by 55gal drums, and motor oil 5gal at a time. Was given 90gal of Diesel removed from a coommercial building replacing furnace with Wood Chips. I am not about to ask...
RE: Starter bracket
I thought I should put this to print. I now have a 24 volt Used starter for 6.2 cucv in good working condition. They wanted it back for a Core. I paid $50.00 for core and thought someone might use this . I shall sell for $60.00 plus Shipping.Just PM me if interrested. Phil
Why would anyone want to replace original P- filter assm. and spend that kind of money?? I have just replaced original Alternator with a Delco Remy Commercial Alt"COST $100.00." and one thing I had to do was to move Primary filter assembly back about 6ins. This put the unit right out in the...
RE: Starter bracket
I have just converted my 1009 to 12 volts. It was not difficult and is the best way to go. I got a new starter, $180.00,gear reduction and I was able to use the same "Support bracket" from 24 volt starter. I cut about 1 in. from the end and drilled another hole and...
If U flat tow, no Problems as it is. I towed my M818 500 miles behind my Deuce and No problems. Just make sure all drive train is good, Ujoints, drive shafts not bent and tires inflated to Specs. Good luck, Phil
wELL i DID THE 12 VOLT CONVERSION, NO PROBLEM. i REPLACED THE STARTER WITH NEW Reduction drive . I have power for lights but no power to ignition. NOTHING! Dead!! I have power to main juction, glow plug relay, all seems well, but I turn key on NOTHING. I wonder if starter relay is bad? I shall...
I am familiar with that 478CI. There are many different sizes like 305,351,401 478, and 478 Magnum. LOng stroke and Torquie!! Did U know there is a Diesel made with that same block? I installed one in a 1968 GMC Pick up years ago. They were used in single axel GMC trucks. I know they were also...
I have ordered a new starter,{Civy} and I have read that someone has been running a 12 volt starter with 24 volt system, I think it was Acetomato?? Anyways, I was wondering if the starter really last or I will be converting it to 12 volts, which I may do??!!?? I removed starter yesterday and...
Porter, I believe my m1009 just started what U have described. Most of the time it would start ok. Some times it would Click and the starter would try to go, but then continue to CLICK several times before it would go dead. I have checked all connections. Today I removed the starter, and it...
One thing U all not mention is the alternate fuels for a Multifuel. If u run a generaton with Multifuel and burn Waste oil, much more economical. Then how about hooking ur heating system to the Cooling system of the Multi.,and or hooking Exhaust through a system to create heat from the...
Reb 87, I drove many MVs when in the Marines. I was with Engs. so there were a great variety of trucks that I drove. One thing I remember well, is that I do not believe that Front wheel drive or 6x6 is verry effective when carrying a load. It is like only maybe 10% effective as far as traction...
It sounds like the glo plugs may not work. I know some 6.2 were known not to start too well. I just got my first and I am luck it goes well, so far!! Make sure both batts. are fully charged. That is the worst thing for 6.2, is to have LOW batts. Raises heck on starters and glo plugs. Phil
As far as Legalitty goes, are not these MVs considered Off Road vehicles? Is it not true that a Multifuel is for running Multiplicity of fuels? I have been buying Offroad diesel and adding WMO to it. Has a way of Discoloring Dyed fuel oil. Anyway, how many times has anyone been stopped driving a...
I don't think they are UGLY at all, compared to the late model Commercial trucks!! Comfort is another thing. I do like the old INTL. 1960-1977 KW and even GMC looked good compared to todays trucks. And lets not forget about the simplicity, and cost of keeping them running compared to todays...
OK doghead, we got to start calling U "THE TRAILER MAN!" That Flat bed trailer is the same as mine, except I have 3 axles. It is old, but reliable!. I wish it were 20ft. longer to haul more Iron! Glad u made a good hail. I got pics on here of my haul from yesterday. Good kuck, Phil
Left last night and got back a couple hours ago. Real nice guys at Picatinny, and very helpful. I drove the 1009 onto trl and with a forklift they loaded trl behind 1009, and pulled other trl with another trk which I hauled out there on the trl. Everything went well, and much closer than...
Week end of Aug 9, we have Old home Day here in Salisbury,N.H., with small parade, Cook out and other activities. I was thinking{DANGEROUS} if I can get anwhere around 5 to 25 people to bring Millitary Vehicles, we could turn Small parade inti Larger Parade, and I have an area about as large as...
