    M1031 SECM Generators

Alrighty then, I've got the suspension differences pretty well down, and I understand that there are 2 main different SECM cab styles (basically older versus newer). But I am pretty much struggling on Gensets vs Gen/Welders vs 10K PTO vs 12K PTO Can anyone give a pretty solid explanation of...

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

Gwag, you are right on that difference though. It takes what looks like a potential rat nest into a much simpler process.

I will say that he does have several posts out there asking for information about the control box and the wiring in the 31. I've been doing research all day... :)

Anybody else here drive CUCVs while in the military?

Drove 1008's for a lil bit, mostly used my LPCs. After college I rode in 1009s and 998s, occasionally in 5 Tons, HEMMTTs and 918s and 955s. Personally I hated 998s if we were in Garrison, Sitting on those pillows over the batteries on Tarmac SUCKED. Now on sand and dirt, no issues. Pretty...

AWESOME! Maybe its the old infantryman in me, but I'm not a purist, you had TA-50 for display, and then "Field" gear. I want a 1028 w/Contact Bed for the utility and duability of them, so I love that you made it "task correct". Plus the 37's are really great looking o it. Congrats...

Hey guys, just spent the last little bit learning me up some. Looks like the Wisconsin may be the lower power, but more versatile, and the PTO may be the more powerful. Has anyone tried installing a Miller or Hobart welder/gen into an SECM? Put a solid AC Compressor in there too, and you...

Awesome. The 4x8 was my big concern, hauling plywood and such. You have a great looking truck Shawn! I was never with a Maint platoon, the most I ever worked with was a shop truck. Otherwise it was 5Tons or 998s for me.

You are my HERO! The box looks pretty much close to normal bed size, and that was my concern. Both sound cool, although the PTO one sounds more complex, off the top of my head. I'll have to go learn me some! Thanks NDT!

Hi guys, I just spent the better part of an hour and a half trying any combo of CMV Bed looking for pics. I've found a ton of shots from the sides, and with the doors open on the sides. I'm looking for photos from the back. Could one of you esteemed 1028 CMV owners snap a circle of...

    Newbs 1008 questions

Hi Lance. I was kind of thinking that, that''s why I asked. GL is a crapshoot for noobs was what I was gathering. So at what point did most of you decide that you were ready to take the risk on a direct purchase? What was your deciding factor?

    Newbs 1008 questions

I'm not planning on too many attachments, radio and lights will be about it. I've seen some great examples of radio and CB installs on here.

    Newbs 1008 questions

Hey there, I've spent a few days hunting down these answers, but I want to get some validation to make sure I'm on the right track for a 1008. When I look at GL, the Code isn't as important as the description right? Additionally, it's Caveat Emptor right? Inspection is the gold standard...

Great to know that there are some SS's in and around the 'Loo. I'm a transplant, but it's a nice place to live. I'll look into Iola too. Don't know that I've ever made it there.

Hey there, I'm an ex soldier who worked both sided of the rank (never went WO though). I have been planning on buying a truck for a bit, but never found a good solid stripped work truck that was worth my time repairing. I drove by a Local Reserve center and saw the old 1008s sitting...

    M1008 Tires

LTB swamper Hey there, have you tried running those in snow? I'm working on the 1008 idea currently (clearing it with the tower so to speak), and will need it to be very competent in snow... The old issue tires weren't so good...
