I have good quality pads and rotors. The truck didn't have a problem handling the weight in acceleration or speed. I was hoping there was an easy swap of brake calipers and/or master cylinder.
Are there any upgrades for the front brakes? Maybe upgrading the master cylinder to help the whole system? I installed rear disk brakes, which helped a lot, a couple years ago. I had about two yards of red clay in the bed of the truck and it had a hard time stopping. I have towed a few heavily...
I was wondering about the center bore too, I was hoping someone here has tried them before. I am going to look into the center bore and offset before I purchase a set. Here are a few pictures of how the truck looks at the moment. I don't plan on changing much more other than a winch.
They are...
Not trying to civi the truck, but I was thinking about painting them black. I am a fan of oem wheels and I wanted to upgrade to some aluminum ones that would fit the new tires that I just put on the stock wheels.
I did not bypass the rear valve, change the proportioning valve, or the master cylinder. I know at that weight they are necessary, but it seemed like I couldn't stop at all. I have towed that weight and more with other trucks, but never my cucv.
Yeah, I know.
It wasn't really a kit. I just ordered the brackets and used all the front brake components from a k20. It's a popular conversion, but I am not sure if the master cylinder can keep up when towing. I have heard with people locking up the rears with out changing the stock proportioning valve, but...
I recently did a rear disk brake conversion and installed a gooseneck hitch on my M1008. While pulling a dump trailer, I tried braking with out using the trailer brakes @ 30mph and I felt like the truck was never going to stop. Without the trailer I felt like the truck stopped better with the...
I used some wiring diagrams, that I found on this forum, to see what needed power in the cab, like fuse box. Then once the inside was powered, I found switched ignition and constant power outputs from the firewall harness connection.
I will look this afternoon and see what I can find. I saw a...
I swapped the 6.2 for a gas engine and I have been having some fuel vapor lock issues. Looking to install an electric fuel pump with regulator. I looked for a return line going to the fuel tank when I pulled the 6.2 out and I couldn't find one. Does one exist on these Cucv's?
Mileage is around 9-11mpg, but I am having some fuel issues. Either it's vapor lock or the new mechanical fuel pump is struggling. I will be switching to electric by the end of this week and I will let y'all know.
Yeah, it does have headers. Also has a Comp cam and roller rockers. Your right, the stock exhaust has a good sound to it, nothing crazy. I will check the mileage in the next few days as I will be driving it quite a bit.
Hi Carnac, I will appreciate any information you can give me about my truck. Thanks.

d. Bought it from a private close to Atlanta.
e. Non visable, truck has been painted.
Just a few pictures. 1986 M1008 20K miles.
Everything works good with the swap. Plenty of power. Having a few issues with fuel vapor lock, but I plan on moving the fuel line away from the engine to resolve that hopefully.
I installed new door and window seals on the truck. When I got home...
Got the new 2400 stall converter in and man what a difference. I did a little power brake test and it will smoke the tires by barely touching the gas. I can now get the truck to idle properly in gear. Everything seems to be great with this swap, other than a small oil leak at the lower timing cover.
