    ARRGGGGGHHHHHH! Tire frustration!

Ok, so the 7" measurement was actually accurate. My faith in humanity is moderately improved. Advance Auto Parts sells a changer for $50. Yeah, it's by hand and a pain, but at $30 per tire, it will have more than paid for itself after the first two tires.

    ARRGGGGGHHHHHH! Tire frustration!

Picked up a good set of 315/75R16 (35ish x 12.5ish) tires today, nearly new Pro Comp all terrains. Went to get them mounted. Shop 1: We can only mount tires we sell. Shop 2: We can only mount tires that are brand new. Shop 3: We can only mount tires we sell. Shop 4: We can mount them, but...

    Water seperation from WMO

Centrifuge is the best way, followed by water separating filters (particularly if they recirculate), with "heat and settle" a distant third.

This thing is really noisey and slow ??

Dynamat is the end all be all of sound insulation, but it can only do so much. If you want a quiet/smooth/compliant ride, you're barking up the wrong tree.

    tires for stock rims

Recently located a set of 315x75x16s locally, that translates to 35ishx12.50ish. I'm going to be trimming the fenders for fitment rather than lifting. Were I going with larger tires, I'd go with AJMBLAZER's setup (small front lift/maybe moving the axle forward with the ORD setup) rather than a...

This thing is really noisey and slow ??

I'd check that GPS for the top speed, it shouldn't be able to exceed 75-ish at redline with the rest of the driveline stock. Even if the truck will do it, I wouldn't, since you're spinning the motor faster than you should be.

This thing is really noisey and slow ??

Maybe, it was the 4.56 gears comment that made me assume he was talking about a 1008 (or variant thereof).

Another Wheel and tire fit question

HMMWV wheels/tires seem really attractive until you try to fit them. I was looking to go that route, as it looked like a cheap way to get some big tires on my truck, but... 1. The HMMWV rims are a pain to fit and require expensive spacers due to the severe backspacing. 2. 16.5" wheels with...

This thing is really noisey and slow ??

Stock size tires? Lots of speedo error? Different axle ratios? I calculated the top speed to be limited to ~72mph (or was it ~75mph?) with everything stock- that's redline of the motor in top gear with the 4.56 rear and 235/85/16 tires. Either way, it was in the 70s, so if you were doing 82...

    16.5 Kelsey hayes wheels?

My mistake, should have clarified that they won't fit on the stock CUCV wheels, but they will fit on wheels that were offered stock on other years/models of Chevy trucks.

    16.5 Kelsey hayes wheels?

The ones that were on eBay had 4.75 (I think) backspacing. 84cucv1ton, if you mean the HMMWV 36s, then no. They require a 16.5" rim.

    16.5 Kelsey hayes wheels?

Set just like that went on eBay a couple weeks ago for around $200, plus $100-$150 shipping, depending on location.

    Where's Your License Plate?

I've got two self-tapping screws holding mine onto the tailgate. A little 12v trailer light on the side of the bed lights it up when the lights are on (wired into taillight).

    16.5 Kelsey hayes wheels?

Like I said, the stockish wheels are out there, they just can get pricey. Just keep watching eBay and the junkyards (www.car-part.com comes to mind) and sooner or later some should come up, just be prepared to pay shipping. If you're willing to pay, you can get custom wheels made up, too, as...

    16.5 Kelsey hayes wheels?

Well, yeah, but at what cost? That's what drove me away- like I said, for a few hundred bucks I could have had brand new wheels from Summit or stockish looking ones, but when I added it up, it made more sense to find a good set of tires that would go on the stock wheels. But hey, if somebody...

    16.5 Kelsey hayes wheels?

Good luck with that. I was considering the HMMWV tires since I could get them cheap from TNJ Murray just an hour down the road. The issue was wheels to put them on, the cheapest route I could find was a set from Summit with the correct backspacing and width, about $55 each. I was watching a set...

    Things to upgrade?

If the rubber is degrading, it needs to be replaced. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes less so. I'd say that the only way to reliably check it would be to remove it, in which case you may as well replace it. Mine didn't look *that* bad, but I don't like the idea of my crankshaft's health reliant...

    Things to upgrade?

Changing the balancer isn't too difficult, provided you have a good impact wrench to break the crank bolt free, a puller to get the old damper off, and a good torque wrench (mine goes to 250 ft-lbs) to get the required 200 ft-lbs on the new one. Oh yeah, and a buddy to jam the flexplate with a...
